OMG about the rules change!!

Really? Really??

EVERY road racing series in the frickin world has the same rule that if you take a position by cutting a corner you give it back. The stewards should be timely but there shouldn't be a statute of limitations on their ruling within the race! That's just asking for people to try and get away with stuff!!

This will lead to fist fights between drivers and people in the pits when the first car gets away with a dirty pass and the stewards are powerless to penalize them.

If you call that exciting then it will be. I prefer to keep fist fights on ice where they belong thank you very much.

2008 they had all these losses but they still had a great car since regulations had not changed that much. They had the best car in the field but failed to capitalize on it due to silly mistakes like the fuel rig and other things that could have been avoided if there had been better leadership and better training / preparations.

2009 the world was turned upside down and this "new Ferrari" had to build their own car. It sucked goats by the pasturefuls. They abandoned that car and focused all their effort on the 2010 car. The head start gave results, Ferrari and Red Bull were the obvious teams to beat during winter practice and Ferrari had a strong first weekend.

Then the other teams caught up and left Ferrari behind again. I really believe it is the leadership that sucks. If the leadership is vague all people working gets vague results and then the car gets vague.

Or at least that is my theory...

yah losing Jean hit Ferrari pretty hard. I do feel bad for Stefan because everything falls on to him. Plus having a retarded team owner (Luca di Montezemolo ) doesnt make help any.

I agree with PerSmitt :(
Also keep in mind that you lost half a season last year with Massa's accident and that ross brawn wrote the rules and then made the car, leaving ANYBODY else a step behind.
Now ferrari is acting like an astonished mother who can't get her children to listen to her... unfortunately if you're busy racing or designing you don't have time to talk...

2008 they also had a lot of engine failures.

Really? I thought that was standard Ferrari quality :yelrotflm

You know, flawed by design.

But seriously I cannot remember any critical engine failure that costed extreme points more than the one where Massas engine gave up when there was 3 laps to go.

Then again I cannot claim to remember every engine issue that hit Ferrari. In my memory the Renault engine seems shakier having a very bad track record in the Red Bulls last year.

Yeah 2009 was really marked by the Brawn car. Which makes Red Bulls performance even more amazing. They caught up and Vettel was chasing for the title up to the second to last race.

Red Bulls constructor team is amazing. And being a McLaren fanboi I must say that I think McLaren develops a car faster in season. But Red Bull comes with a faster car to the first race, so they get it right on the first try instead.

As for Ferrari. I started watching F1 2008 when Ferrari started its decline so I really haven't seen what all the fuss is about ;)

Mercedes? They seem to be struggling this year to catch up. I would place Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari as top tier and then Mercedes one tier down from there. Now Mercedes were hoping for improvement on Hockenheim. I really hope they can put on a good show in Germany.

Also what excites me is that Bridgestone has brought the softest AND the hardest compound for this race. This means we will see a big difference between the tires and hopefully some exotic strategies during the race.

PerSmitt 07-23-2010 04:39 AM

Hamilton crashed in first practice! This ought to make Polo happy ;)

Anyways lets hope they get the car together for P2 but it was supposedly very damaged. We will see how much Hamilton will suffer from this during the weekend.

bse50 07-23-2010 07:20 AM

Alonso is pulling one record time after another in s1, s2, s3 1:18.3 after just 6 laps. Button did half second slower with 9 laps (a lot of difference in a drying track!)

bse50 07-23-2010 07:42 AM

Webber woke up! 1:17.4
Alonso replied: 1:17.3
Webber killed alonso: 1.16.585!!!

---
Alonso 1:16.265... dunno what he's trying to prove =)

F1 rivals say Alonso best current driver

Fernando Alonso's track rivals have voted him the best driver currently in formula one.

The finding was published by the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, who provided the anonymous questionnaire to each of the 24 race drivers.

Ayrton Senna was voted the best driver of all time by a large margin, with seven time world Michael Schumacher in second place.

The most aggressive driver is Lewis Hamilton, and the McLaren driver was also tipped by his rivals to fight for the 2010 title against Sebastian Vettel.

Monaco was voted as the most dangerous circuit.

As for the 'most beautiful woman' in the paddock, one driver voted for Nico Rosberg, whose Williams mechanics last year nicknamed him 'Britney' (Spears).

Most drivers, however, voted for the French reporter Marion Jolles.

Can Ferrari pull it off this weekend?

Fernando Alonso was cautious after topping the drier second practice session at Hockenheim on Friday.

The Spaniard was marginally quicker than Sebastian Vettel, while teammate Felipe Massa split the occupant of the sister Red Bull by going third quickest.

"Ferrari looks extremely competitive," said Vettel.

McLaren had a more difficult day at the office, but the team is likely to keep its new blown diffuser on the car for the rest of the weekend, despite Lewis Hamilton saying it wasn't "perfect".

"I think we can risk going with the new floor," Martin Whitmarsh is quoted by the German media.

Jenson Button was just fifteenth in the afternoon, while Hamilton was seventh after sitting out most of the session while the damage sustained in his morning crash was repaired.

"The Red Bulls and Ferrari look fast, faster than we expected," said Button. "I don't know if we'll be as quick."

Said German Vettel: "I am sure they (McLaren) will come back tomorrow and be up there."

Alonso, however, was reserving his judgement. "Difficult to know today, I think we have to wait for tomorrow," he said.

It rained again after the afternoon session, and more rain is possible on Saturday.

Hey alfy how much did it hurt for you to post such image?

PerSmitt 07-24-2010 08:10 AM

Excellent driving from Alonso, however Vettel drove even better!

Looking forward to a great race tomorrow!

not as much after seeing Ferrari 2 and 3rd. I must say though, it was good to see Massa up on the poll. I wish i can say the same for Alonso :(

I would call it equal. 2/1000 of a second is slower than an eye blink.

By 1/2" holy cow that's a close qualy series!

Nice job to Ferrari to come back and make a strong showing. Anyone notice the Button/Hamilton qualy flip flop. :) Nice job Jenson

Oh and I think an eyeblink is like 30 milliseconds. So I agree it is a lot less time than an eyeblink.

PerSmitt 07-25-2010 04:03 AM

Actually that reminds me of last time I was competing on the local go kart track. The people at the place said it was impossible to go under 1.10 on a lap due to weather and such.

I managed in that 1 hour endurance race put one lap at 1.09.999. Guess I proved them wrong.

bse50 07-25-2010 07:06 AM

Vettel did a pretty smart move but the kid couldn't manage to bull alonso, rofl. Bullies don't last.

bse50 07-25-2010 08:07 AM

Fuck team orders.
I want ferrari to be disqualified from this race.

PerSmitt 07-25-2010 08:39 AM

Yeah it was as obvious as it can get. Massa deserved that victory. I really hope the judges will put their foot down and penalize Ferrari for this.

alnielsen 07-25-2010 08:47 AM

The U.S. hasn't seen the race yet. It won't be broadcast for another 2 hrs.
It's the last of the season for the delayed broadcast.
