The 09 bodies moved the exhaust back to the rear. I haven't heard a reason for it, but I know they discussed it. The Salen 8s still have it at the side, I think the Dempsey 8s too.

had a few times they had trouble with build up on the tires and brakes the exhaust is an added problem for that. plus the new set up runs better with it in rear

Nevermind, looks like a pit cycle. 40 dropped to 8th. These 4 are all basically running the same lap.

Still, glad the engine got some coverage for the un-enlightened that doesn't know that it isn't a piston engined car.

Sweet, a little talk about the RX8 and rotary!

Sucks for the 71 car though.

I've got a display like that at work on top of a filing cabinet. It attracts a lot of attention. Folks love it!

Yup. Stevenson teams are always competitive and like the Speedsource guys never seem to be a problem on the track to DP or other GT entries. Not at all like the Porsche teams.

Great race so far. I haven't seen the 69 listed as 'out' so I imagine we'll see it back on the track at some point before the finish. Impressive job by Sahlen and Dempsey teams keeping their 8s out there and competitive. both still look very much like they might be able to make the top 10 tho the #40 is losing places as I watch the updates online...

Come on Speedsource. if 69 didn't blow we would be runing 1-2 easily but we have a strong lead with our lone ranger. lol the second best mazda is last years #70

Amazing how the #43 came up to 5th place. It ran a clean race but with consistent 1:55 laps, which isnt fast by any means.

More laps in front of the P2 car now. Let's hope the Dempsey car can squeeze into top 5 as well!

does anyone remember how speedsource won two years ago? was a last minute change at the end or did they have the lead for a while?

ha ya amazing how 43 is doing so well with the slowest times in the top 15 but they consistantly run in the 55's and it's a strong car as proven last year. hence why they are still up there. less problems than all other cars in top ten. just as long as those cars on there tail don't catch em.

go mazda.

man, just heard on Speed that they're moving Nick Ham out of the #70 seat.

Wtf, he is a great driver and won so many races for Speedsource and Mazda. It must be the decision the sponsors made as Speed mentioned. This is really sad.

Sounded like a marketing and competition decision. You have a young driver that is ready to take the next step.
