Heh... More power to the true believers here, but I'm skeptical.

Oh, and who wants to be the guinea pig for the 16x? Are they gonna put up 100k powertrain warranties from the get go to try and win people over? The FD followed up by the Renesis S1 might have given the rotary engine a(nother) serious black eye... much like GM did to the diesel engine decades ago.

I love the rotary, but lets face it we're all fanboys here who are willing to put up with all sorts of **** that regular people aren't. And no one ever got rich selling solely to fanboys.

That's what I was thinking as the next advancement of the 1.3L Renesis, along of course with the S2's add'l oil injector/metering. In a Miata sized lightweight chassis it would be very good indeed.

I hope this is all true, but I am very cautious until some official word. I have heard tons of rumors in the past 6 years about the new RX-7. With CAFE and emissions being all the talk up in the US right now, I can't see Mazda releasing two rotaries. The 16X running diesel has been talked about for awhile, but if they are going to do that my guess is they would have to turbo the 16X, the only appeal with most diesels is they produce a ton of torque, which rotaries don't. Plus with how the RX7 and RX8 have done with engine problems I can't see the public as a whole accepting two more RX models and purchasing them and them being a sales success, which you need in today's ever changing financial world mess.

Gotta be true.. My EBAY grounding kit said it was good for an RX-7, RX-8 and RX-9..... Although, a little under half of the lugs pulled off the end of the cables when I checked them, so maybe those guys just guessed.....

That's what I'm hoping for too.

I know it's still early, but have their been any documented problems with the Series II renesis? (i.e. the same problems that caused many '04 owners to need a new engine?) If the improvements to the series II prove to eliminate those early problems that could go a long way.

I doubt a respected member of the community like Easy would fabricate bullshit like that. Just my opinion.

It's also possible that the rx7 will be available with multiple engines. The base model will be the Renesis we're familiar with and the MS version will be a *****-to-the-wall turboed 16X. They may do a similar thing with the RX9.

In any case, the future of the Rotary looks good.

As far as engine names go; it's not renesis vs 16X. They would both be renesis engines but of different displacement (If Mazda is doing two). The 1.6 engine would not use the X designation in production form if they follow the pattern they've used throughout time. People are always saying renesis vs 13B whereas the present renesis IS a 13B so maybe we'll get a 13B renesis and a 16C renesis. Who knows? I sure don't.

I hope the rumors are true.

Paul.
Count not agree more Paul...the Renesis is a 13B with Side Exhaust ports, and as I have shown most of the internal Parts are the same as they were 20 plus years ago.
With some advances..like the tapered Side Seal, Compression Cut off ring.

What will the 16 be called IF we see it...I am thinking 16C too.

Not so sure about this Rotary Diesel Option.
Neither am I so sure about 2 ALL new rotary vehicles, IMO I still think the RX-8 name has mileage left in it (Second Generation).

ALL interesting, IF True, WHY are we not seeing ANY HINTS at motor shows?

This is my thought as well. If 2012 was the expected release year for these vehicles then we should be seeing something within the next few months. I can't see any car company releasing a new halo type vehicle without generating some hype by building a concept type vehicle or unveiling it at an auto show.

The face-lift Mazda 2 being released in the US is just a stop-gap model, as the SKY engines are due in a few months (2011), I heard the 2 will be one of the first to get it.
Also with the new SKY-D....I also heard an ALL new Mazda 2...already?

Does anyone know where the Mazda 2 for the USA is made (I am guessing Hiroshima), anyone got a VIN number yet?..

Mazda said on the launch of the SKY Bangers that they won't fit in current cars, so what exactly does this mean, I took it as all new bodies, but what about the new Mazda 3?.

MZR Engines are meant to die..are they not.

Traditionally Rotary Engined Concepts/Prototypes or all new models have been first seen at the Tokyo Motor Show.

If you leave out the RX-8 or any Rotary for now the next Mazda Model Due for all new upgrade is the MX-5.

Yes the "principal" in design of the 1.3 and 1.6 litre Renesis are the same, but the new 16X or C shares very little with the 1.3.

ALL I can think of at the moment would be Corner Seals, everything else is larger, or smaller (Apex Seals) in the 16X.

EMOP Oil Nozzles should be the same and possibly the EMOP's themselves.
Knock sensors, E shaft Sensors should be the same.

But the new rotary engine is a major tooling exercise for Mazda.
Remember the 13B/Renesis plant/dies are nearly 40 years old.

Yeah Huey...Before the world comes to an end..

I have been sayin this for years, Mazda should have made a Rotary Miata/MX-5, the cost would have been minimal, but the sales would warrant the extra (small) tooling cost.

Unfortunately...typical Mazda they never listen to me...I wonder why...

I've read somewhere that Mazda2 for US are made into upgraded Thai factory ,as the renewed model for you australians.
Here in EU we have not the new slightly modified aussie Mazda2, Ash...same thing in Japan.

Here in EU we expect to get €5 compliant Mazda2 model for 1/1/2011 (mandatory date for €5 cars)
