Now, if you can swing it, the thing to do is motor in this for a daily ride for a year, then go get a NEW daily ride - something a bit more cushy ... and turn this thing into a true track monster!

I'm hoping a few of these with life still left in them are available on the used market in a few years - I'd love to buy a dedicated autocross car - and with the four doors and trunk, you don't even need a support ride - put street wheels and tires on it, drive to the track, take the wheels out of the back doors (of course if it's a dedicated ride, you've removed the back seat and installed a tire rack like all good autocrossers do, right?), bolt up and go racing!

Have fun!

I've been thinking about the 5Zigens but if I were to go black and 5 or 6 spoke I think I like the Black Racing wheels best even though they don't offer a polished lip.

Ordered my wheels today (17x9) with some Proxes 4s for winter driving. Will be my first experience with these tires but I've heard good things.

Those will look nice against a blue body. Maybe I missed it earlier...but what size are they?

EDIT: ooops I'm retarded...17x9...those are some fatties.

Thanks man, those were actually in the running and had I been able to see them in person may have been my choice. I just couldn't get a grasp of what the hyper black really looked like and no one could explain it to me very well. Also those are staggered which just isn't my thing though some people are doing it on AWD cars for god knows why... I think it's the whole drift craze.

Different diameter / width front & back. For example, Vettes come with staggered wheels from factory.

Yup, staggered is pretty gay on most setups.

Anyway, those wheels should look good on the car, Ike. I had never heard of black racing before.

When I ordered my wheels the guy told me he just sold some wheels to a local guy with an Evo and he insisted on having them staggered. It's JDM yo!

Imaging driving with 325/30/19s -or whatever a Viper wears out back- on the front, simply to not use a staggered setup! When you need traction and a "massive" contact patch out back, you can't really escape it.

Definately there are some good applications for it. My little brother's 1968 Buick has monsters in the back and pizza cutters up front. It still spins them effortlessly.

I'm saving a little over a pound per corner and they're 1 inch wider.

BTW...Ike I'm now registered as "Turd Squirter" on EvoM in case you couldn't tell from that thread. Steiner was banned. Some guy from Thailand with an STi 203 called me an "***" and a "dick" when I said his spoiler was over the top. I said "relax Pad Thai..." and next thing I know I'm banned for a "racial slur". Personal insults apparently are OK but making reference to exotic asian cuisine is taboo. EvoM sucks and there's nothing anybody can do to change that. You'll discover too soon enough. Warralton and a few of the other old DSM gurus have awesome info though. It'll be shame when they lose interest and stop visiting like all the other knowledgeable tuners who were very active when I originally registered in November of '04.

I know. I figured my first forum ban would be more exciting or, at a minimim, remotely justifiable. The fact they didn't ban my IP too leads me to believe their were some serious internal doubts about the need for the ban. Oh well. My new name is funnier and definately more juvenile. I feel like I fit in mych better.

I figured that was you and I was wondering why you were banned... EvoM does seem to be a bit of a cesspool at times but there's also a wealth of info there, it's too bad it's not more like the Subaru community, sites like ClubWRX and Nasioc really are topnotch, to the point that they're almost boring...
