Thats an understatement, I'm getting the impression the rarity of the diesel in the U.S. will match that of the speed6's available to date, No dealer within 200 miles of me has any information on them at all.

Even the information they have on the gas is still very limited, you can't order one the way you want it and you can't get anything in a M/t except a bone sport.

I travel for work, and have been to a couple countries outside of the U.S. and one in particular, China has tons of the new 6's driving around they are pretty common there already. Yet any dealer around here just shrugs and has what they have available.

Its a shame.

6 Diesels are about 6 months away for you guys....

Frankly, I believe Mazda will maintain a 'supply issue', real or artificial.

MMC already announced that they don't want US Dealers to discount, I guess if there is a supply shortage then they can maintain retail prices and profit...again Mazda has already recently announced this...and I guess this thinking is not new.

However since this announcement the YEN has weakened by 10% meaning Mazda's bottom line will be far healthier....so we will see.

Unfortunately Hofu can only produce X amount of cars per day, it make the 3 and 6 only.
Hiroshima (Ujina) is not tooled to make any 6's or 3's....move US 3's to Mexico in 2014 leaves more capacity for the 6.

big torque data of diesels are a little bit marketing....surely the main advantage of diesel is torque, but in real world driving is not SO big...

Yeah my buddy had to do quite a bit of work and haggling to get a Black GT and he had a good down payment with his 2010 RX-8 and good credit. I'm so tired of hearing about lame diesels.

Yeah my buddy was dealing with three local dealerships and they all kept trying to pressure him into models he did not want. He got lucky and one of them got a fully loaded black GT in and he jumped on it, but he paid for it.

Final Drive here is Gas 4.056 Diesel 3.804, so the Gas should be faster off the line....but it wont be..

The gearbox ratio's (Auto) are also different, but really not by that much, I really don't get Mazda or any car maker that has to make so much change for very minor end result.
Just a parts nightmare.

So figured I would throw another comparison in here, I looked at the 13 Fusion Titanium edition today and was very impressed MPG is a little less than the 6 but with a 2.0 ecoboost engine it produces 230HP and 270 lb of torque it was a very well built quiet car and the new styling is defiantly a very attractive care. There at the same price points as the 6 too but the 30K GT Mazda doesn't seem to have half the elegance as the 30K titanium Fusion.

Just throwing my experience in if anyone wants to add of thoughts in general on the new fusion

The 'starting' price on a Fusion Titanium is $30,200. That's about $3k more than the 6 GT. Fuel mileage is 22/33. Elegance is definitely subjective .

I am really looking forward to the magazine reviews.

Paul.

Test Drive: Mazda6 looks good, drives great

Judged by specifications, its direct rivals are the likes of Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Cruze, Nissan Altima.

Judged by driving feel, it has no direct rivals. Not that the 2014 Mazda6, on sale since last month, is an easy champion in that fierce field of highly competent sedans. Rather, it's the most palatable overall blend of sporty, comfortable and fuel-efficient.
Handling is commendable.

The Mazda6 gracefully saved the day a number of times when a corner was much sharper than even the alarmist road signs warned.

In those "oops" situations, just a little more steering and, bingo, a little more turning. No heavy understeer, no wrestling match with the squirming, squealing, almost-sliding of most family sedans in similar circumstances.

The 6 is a dancer.

Mazda's Skyactiv mojo seems on-target for good mileage.

We kicked the car hard, often using full-throttle, because the 2.5-liter engine is delightfully lively when spurred, and frequently using the manual-shift mode of the six-speed automatic to hold the lower gears. Good control in those very tight corners and thus more enjoyable driving and quicker acceleration from corner to corner.

All that, and the buggy was topping 30 mpg for a good while, finally finishing at 28.5 mpg.
Overall: A joy.

Speaking of EcoBoost... There have been countless reports of subpar real world gas mileage.

Speaking of Mileage...an Australian Commercial TV network here did a test on our Gas (Petrol) types/grades from 91 to 98 Octane and Diesel to see which fuel is the most economical an value.

Glad to see my gut feeling was correct as I was always of the view that our 98 RON Petrol was the best for ones car and gave the best value and distance.

I won't use anything else but the premium petrol (gas) for either of my cars, RX-8 or MX-5.

Mazda 6 GT starting price is 29,494 before the destination fee

And yes the MPG is not as good but the 2.0T has the performance to rival the 2.2 diesel. And blows the 2.5 gas away no questions

BTW: For those wondering about my You-Tube channel MAZDAEYESONLY which I controlled is now dead.

Someone reported my site to YT and YT removed it for ''copyright reasons'', even though I had the OK from Mazda in Australia (Luke), and subscribed to by MNAO, Mazda Canada and Mazda Europe, many, many years ago...never one issue.

So what will be will be...I guess this person who did not like my collection of 500+ Mazda videos from around the world over the past 5 years, and was being a silly unimportant tool.

Anyway, I am trying to remove the Videos Links I posted here when I can, so if you come across any here in this forum can you please hit the report button so I can remove them.

The REPORT button is the Red Triangle @ bottom left of each post.

That way I can clean up the threads...naturallly there were a few complete threads like 'RX-8 BORN HISTORY Part 1,2 and 3 which were deleted as there were no video's to view..

Thanks

I would hope there would be someone to contact at Youtube for a review. Let's fight this battle and win sir. NEVER GIVE UP, never stop challenging! I'm serious too.

No Paul too late IMO, and I found out who reported it, was a new 'video specialist' @ Mazda Australia who took over Lukes YT management (zoomzoom).

Luke had no idea and did some digging to find out what happened.

He is trying to get it re-instated ....I won't hold my breath.

That is, in my opinion, the target statement that Mazda seeks. Those of us who are always looking for the super cheap bargain car are not helping their bottom line. For us to have a Mazda well into the future, the brand needs to take a step up and be viewed differently.

Mazda needs to be able to play with VW and Volvo, even as they combat Honda and Hyundai.

$25k for 164HP is just pathetic. $30k for 164HP just ludicrous. A base Volvo S60 gets you 91 more HP.

184 hp, 185 lb-ft torque.

The idea that a car's value (Especially among bread and butter sedans) should be based so heavily on hp is the same thought process that has some who have never driven an RX-8 criticizing it and mocking. Those who don't know, laugh and call the Miata a hairdresser's car; if only they knew.

I know and I still call the Miata a hair dressers car. My mom loves hers though. And since when is torque more important than horsepower?

Horsepower is not the most important factor when buying a car but it equates to the driving experience and that is an important factor. But the 6 doesn't do anything else extremely well to the point that make the weak engine make sense to me.

It's really funny to see people blindly defend this car when most have never even driven it. Have you driven a new 6 Paul?
