The Mini isn't exactly a gas saving car. If you want a more fuel efficient car for a 20 year old and don't care about dings/dents later on... get a Scion.

ahh no........

"Road and Track lists the Mazda RX-8 as being capable of going through their slalom at 68.4mph. The Mini can do it in 69.5mph. To me the Mini feels very stable and is one of the best handling cars out there. In fact, look through Road and Track and see what other cars beat 69.5mph. Not many, and it wasn't that long ago, the Mini was the only car Road and Track tested that was capable of even hitting 69.5mph through the slalom" :D

and can u say MOD happy....

Also the mini gets 31 combined driving
The mini cooper S 2005 does the 1/4 in 14.8 i bit slower than the rx8 but i dont have to burn through a clutch to get there. :D

Be prepared to take a serious financial hit if you trade it in now. This is definitely a really bad time to do so, but if you are really that unhappy with car, then why not. Think it over though before going to a Mini, because it's likely that car will do same thing to you, and in a year you won't be smiling. Good luck in your decision.

The mini cooper is having all sorts of quality issues- you'd be jumping right into another set of problems. You might want to so some research before you buy one.

Wait a second, are you paying for this car yourself elips0? If you are go for it... Otherwise if your parents are paying for it... go for it! Not like it matter if someone else is paying for it.

This whole argument is stupid.

1. the gas mileage, while better in a Mini, is only better if you drive it like a granny. if you drive it like you stole it, your mileage won't be as high as 31, just as the RX8's isn't as high as 21 when driving the same.

2. it doesn't make you smile? So basically when you hit 30,000 on your Mini, I guess it won't make you smile either?

3. Keys & Dents...I guess this is the car's fault somehow.

4. Needs a new clutch...you've shown that you want a faster car and have shown evidence that you're riding your clutch to get faster 1/4 mile times....what do you expect?

5. problems with a/c and your 'problems up the wazoo': so you're gonna go from your RX8 problems to the Mini's problems....great choice.

Basically you're only valid argument is gas mileage. And if that's your #1 priority, you should look into the Prius. Plus if you go to a Mini, now you're going from 4 doors to 2, losing a trunk, and driving a death trap on wheels.

Have fun.

I guess eclps0 does a lot of slalom driving on the weekends...especially when a 2 mph difference is a deciding factor.

Ok i will ahve fun thank you very much

1. What MPG are you getting? I am getting 15 no matter how i drive.. i said 15 it should fricken perform like a viper or let alone a new vette

2. Would u smile whenu have to pay 80 dollars a week becuase it gets crappy as gas per gallon, To get the 15 i posted i have to shift at 3,000 or lower. would shifting at 3000 rpms make you smile, i think not.

3. I am a picky person, with the dings and key mark it makes the last thread of love for this car go down teh crapper. why u ask because i will put more money into the damm car. If i am so unhappy with it why bothering fixing it.

4. No the clutch is because mazda wanted to cut corners and the consumer gets left with the problems.

5. Ahh ac is great alot better than the rx8s yes u are righjt i am going to go from an rx8 with Big problems to a car with MINI problems :D

The mini is a very safe car by the way if not safer than the rx8

Proof, please? Does the mini have 8 air bags? What about its roll-over rating?

What about if you get rear ended and crash into the car in front of you? Oh, you'll be MINI just like your car.

Well, you're going to get whatever car you want, even if it's an old Yugo. It's your life an money. I just have a couple of questions:

Wow, too bad...

If you're getting 15mpg "no matter how [you] drive", then why do you have to "shift at 3,000 or lower to get the 15 [you] posted"?

So, you'd fix the Mini if the same things happened?

I haven't really heard of many people complaining about clutch problems. Sounds like you need to learn how to drive a stick...

What is your source for this safety information?
