Specifically said no shortcomings for ME. And although looks are subjective as you said, line them up and take a poll. I would wager aginest you very highly which car would win in the looks dept.

That's was my point. In your OPINION the 8 has no shortcomings. In other peoples, it does. In your OPINION the legacy has short comings, in others it doesn't. So who cares, this talk in nonsense. You would wager that the 8 would win in looks, I would wager that the family sedan would handly beat your sports car in a straight race. It's niether here nor there, if you're happy, and others are happy, then again, who cares.

tiew! looks are too subjective to decide. Some people thinks the RX-8 looks better than the 350Z. Some felt the same way. It really depends on one's tastes. But you can't argue with cold hard quantifiable facts.
Owners of Audi TT always go back to the looks department each time a VW golf GTi beats it. Is the TT pretty? do you want to be like them?

I just think all this "mine is better" talk is just stoopid. If you can afford an RX-8 GT, you could also afford WRX, 350Z, Mustang, STI, Legacy, and a whole host of other cars. In the end, we each made a decision on what makes US happy, not everyone else. It means absolutely nothing to me that a Legacy, or WRX, or 350Z, or even Ike himself is faster than my RX-8 in a straight line. I could afford all those cars, I could go out and buy one right now. I personally think looks are important, which is why I chose the 8 because to me it looks better than the alternatives.
You want a fast friggin straight line car, get an SRT-4. What is that thing, only like .1 or .2 slower than the Viper 0-60.
Friggen A all this dumb talk makes me so angry

you're a member of the RX8 forum, yet you own none. You are a member, yet you trash said car. To which side do you belong? Have you driven both? Have you seen either/or in person? Please withhold you justments until then.
That being said, I like the looks of the GT, and I think that it might make a nice garage mate for my wife's Accord V6 sometime in the future.
Who'd have thunk it - racing sedans with your wife in your 30's......

I agree 100% - we have trolls here that have many posts, yet they also have a)ownership issues, and b)8 envy
If they continue to post, that means they have a sincere interest in the 8 for some reason. If that reason is not positive (or at least balanced/objective) they should join their "core competence" forum and leave us proud 8 owners alone.

I belong to the side of the car enthusiast. The side which can appreciate ALL cars for what they are, what they were intended to be, and the good times you can have behind the wheel. I would not be so arrogant as to write off, or belittle, other cars simply because I own a certain model. The same cannot be said for many 8 owners, and many car owners in general. It's because they are not enthusiasts, and that's fine, but don't expect me to sit back and listen to ignorant blabble.
That said, I don't trash the 8, however, I am hardly a fanbois, and I am more than capable of accepting its flaws. A glaring one being power. I have driven the 8 on a number of occasions and I thouroughly enjoy the car. I have plans to get one next spring, once I graduate. Until then, I will have to be content reading about it. As for the legacy, no I haven't driven one, I have kicked the tires though. It's a nice car, and from what I can tell and as I said, it would easily beat the 8 in a straight line race.

I like the Legacy from what I've read (looks, power, and space) and look forward to planting my objective butt in one in the near future. Again, congrats.

Don't be a smartass with me. You would be lucky to experience the cars I have been given the opportunity to drive in my life. I have no desire to own the legacy GT, so I don't know why I would go waste the dealers time. I only waste their time with cars I would own right now.
Having driven the 8, however, I can tell that without a 7000rpm clutch bomb, the 8 isn't keeping up with the Legacy GT. They both have similar reported 0-60 times, the legacy out front by a couple tenths. However, the 8 is much harder to drive to its best time, which is still slower than the GT's anyhow. I don't really think I need to drive the GT to make that call.

I think I have a pretty good idea of the performance capabilities of the 8. No, I haven't lived with it for 21k miles. I don't know how well the cupholder works, or how many sets of golf clubs I can fit in the trunk. But, I have given it a good ride when I have driven it. I feel confident talking about its street performance, especially it's straight line capability. Hopefully this summer I will get one out on the track and then I can feel confident talking about that too.
