Hence my statement "so perhaps you got a different experience"--but yeah the General Lee has a confederate flag draped across the top--no big deal to me.

Come...on, back to Jessica Simpson...lol

Seriously, I've felt racism even in Miami and when I came to Orlando I saw a little bit more so I really have issue with people who ignorantly say this race or that race is the best or these types of people are like this or that.

I don't think everyone who have the flag our racist...but they sure are honoring a culture that lived by slavery. No matter what they say it means to them now...it's history is a dirty one so most people have issue with that flag.

From reading the post so far on this topic, it's pretty clear why Chrysler did not want to use their new Charger to promote the movie. Half the people are offended or some what offended to the flag(myself included) and half are not.

Well, I don't live there anymore. I live in FL. I do miss the corruption though. Can't bribe people to get better seating or get things done out here.

I do not miss being held at gunpoint or being shot at tho!

I've actually seen statistics that say French Quarter establishments charge black people more than whites. It is strange to hear about racism in N.O. (the parrish/city) because the majority of the population there is black. JP I can understand. Actually, I was pulled out of a car at 4am in front of my friend's house in metairie, there were 6 squad cars, but they ran our backgrounds as "two caucasian males" So maybe there is a diff.

I could not stand the site of J.P. police cars--I know too many people that had been profiled and harrassed by those a--holes.

LOL@the gunpoint--I forgot about the rediculous crime rate down there. I've seen people shot and been at the forefront of a standoff down in New Orleans. wild times. As far as the General Lee is concerned--my 'girlfriend' (or closest one to holding the title ) doesn't want to see Dukes of Hazzard because of that I grew up watching Fall Guy, Knight Rider, Airwolf, and Dukes of Hazzard--the flag on the car has no bearing on me.

Once I was "pulled over" for walking when someone was reported to have had been waving a gun around.. they checked me and let me go.. 5 minutes later i see them driving off with a black guy..

Another time I was walking in 18 degree weather, coldest day in N.O. with just a t-shirt and jeans on..

In canada i was walking in a "bad neighborhood" at 4 am..

when we dump affirmitive action.
I was going to respond to that and edited 2-3 times what I was writing...but, this is not the place to start that conversation.

I disagree...

I was going to go there as well... I'll just leave it at this. Most people don't understand the difference between affirmative action and preferential treatment, affirmative action works, and works well, preferential treatment does not and should not be confussed.
