Broker... definatly let us know how you run after the stage 2 tune. Do they make a good turboback for those cars yet? Sure between a tune and opening up breathing room for the turbos it'll run some awesome times and be wicked fast.

We have a couple 335's that autox and they do pretty well. Think it would do better on a roadcourse unless you threw some r compounds and various suspension upgrades on it though. Either that or the guys I race with need to learn how to drift it better.

Broker, I'm glad you're posting up as you're gaining experience racing. This is great... and I want to make it clear that I'm a fan of the 335i. It's a fantastic car, and it's even better that there are folks out there racing them.

The G8 guys are racing the hell out of them as well. I think there's more in common with the 335i and G8 enthusiasts than most people think.

I wish the RX8 folks would figure it out. The more you race, the faster the engine aftermarket will mature... not just throw junk and dyno graphs out there with big claims. The mph doesn't lie. In the four times you've been to the track, you're getting a wealth of knowledge that only a small percentage of the folks here have.

An example is how you're watching your trap speeds vs ET.

You experienced crappy conditions and you're still turning 104mph. People dont get it, and yet this is SO basic: you can turn 106-107 on a good run with 13.5, but still able to rip off 104mph with a 14.5. Trap speed is a direct indicator of power. If RX8 folks would figure this out, they would be going to the track to chase trap speeds and not ET, thereby proving their individual setups are fast, and refining the "recipes" for strong performing engine mods.

I've been preaching this for a while, and a lot of people who race know this, but it seems it takes non-RX8 owners to show them how it's done. Stop with the garbage about "i can't launch... it's a bad drag racing car... there must be something wrong with my car....". F' the time and the launch. Chase traps. It's simple. Prove your **** is making power with MPH. Sorry for the rant.

it was 14.4 @ 93 mph slayer. :P lets get it right, that 1mph makes a difference. btw, slayer and i are going drag racing on the 12th, if anyone wants to join us.

also, someone mentioned that dinan is the only licensed tuner for bmw. thats not true. alpina is too.

I think Dinan makes a free flow exhaust for the car but to be honest I haven't really looked into it?......I really don't know if I want to do too much more to the car other than the stage 2.....how much power does a guy need...and after the tune I hope it's everything the guys at BMW have talked about

You are right, going to the track has opened my eyes to certain cars and how easy (or not easy) it is to get close to or better than mag times....I use to own an RX8 3 yrs ago and really liked it....but from what I've seen at the track you would be hard pressed to get more than 90mph in trap speeds here on a good run?.....and yes I do agree that trap speed really gives you an idea of how much power (potential) the car has......4 times out makes me no expert, but it has allowed me to see some cars race that we've talked about here, and it was interesting to be lined up against them...STI's, Mustang's, STR-4's, SRT-8's....G35's etc etc.......only cars I have lost to so far are a drag (non - street) truck, and a modded Mustang GT 500.......what was interesting was seeing the G35's run 14.4's @97 or so...and STI's never break 13.9 @ 100mph?..........it has been fun, and I can't wait to go in a few weeks..I have to admit I've really got into it.

Well got the stage 2 Dinan in today.....all I can say is wow...taking it to the track Friday to see how she runs.
The tire spin in the first few gears is crazy....I have to completely disable the traction control to floor it off the line....Dinan says it makes 420tq, and it feels really strong!....they claim 384hp and 420tq....who knows?...but the car pulls like a beast

If I can get traction for the first 60ft and the track is in good condition I am hoping to run low 13's?
