From a practical purpose (if that is even relevant to most that purchase these cars) I found the STi very cramped in the rear seats. I had to move the drivers seat up and adjust the incline more vertical to sit in the back seat. I could hardly fit my feet under the front seat.

The EVO had significantly more space for the rear passengers.

I was really impressed with the '06 STi test drive. Personally, I think it looks better than the previous version, but I wish that Subaru would start with a blank sheet for the exterior. Such an "exotic" performing vehicle should at least not make babies cry when they look at the car

I'd take either and be happy, but probably go with the STI because of Mitsu's ongiong financial woes.

Most of us here probably can't even use 50% of either car's potential on a track, anyway.

I'd rather have the Evo. I'm not obese enough to fit in the STi seats.

Never heard that complaint b4. I would pick the evo because it's far less rice.

When the Sti first came over it had wider seats for America. Dunno if they changed them back to Japan spec or not. The Evo had (has?) these dope Recaros. I almost got the Evo for the seats alone..

the new subaru is ugly and the 4G63 is easier to mod, there is a guy in north florida who puts down 600 AWDHP in his EVO, i never seen a STI close to that.

This one is in the area of 1100whp, but it's just a WRX... There are more and more STIs and WRXs getting 500+ whp. Plus, the new Evo has mivec and that may end up leveling the playing field a bit since it's going to take some new developments to make it as mod friendly as the Evo8.

If you take off the spoilers of both cars you'll see that the sti still looks ricey with that huge hood scoop and aggressive front facia. The evo has more subtle lines and looks more like a sleeper.

I'm more of the opinion that taking off the rear spoilers makes the EVO look like an econobox and the Subi like a performance sedan. But maybe that's just me.

No, wait, that Evo looks like an econobox anyway

They're both econoboxes, but prefering the looks of one over the other is simply a matter of personal taste. I'm not a fan of the big wheel gap on the STi but form always follows function on these two cars. But, even though I own an Evo rather than an STi, the coolest looking car out of the two that I've seen up close was a lowered '05 STi with a FMIC and a WRX spoiler. It also was running a 2.0L JDM swap that was putting down ridiculous amounts of power. It looked amazing and had the performance to match. Conversely, some of the worst looking cars I've seen on the roads lately have been WRX's made to look like STi's...complete with the big spoiler and an STi badge to complement the WRX's OEM 16" rims.

I've been to a couple of the local Evo meets around here too and can tell you that I've seen some fugly ones with aftermarket front lips, even BIGGER aftermarket wings, goofy wannabe JDM badging, and exhaust piping so low that they have to take speed bumps sideways. Inside of the car it gets worse...full carbon fiber dashes, aftermarket neon gauge clusters, pillar pod gauges, aftermarket racing seats to hold the driver in tight while driving to class, etc.

It's an old SVX engine I believe, I just posted pics because I thought it was cool. There are a decent amount of STIs and WRXs starting to get in that 500+ whp range though with their standard engine.

Yeah, that ricey hoodscope that feeds air to the TMIC... If a car has to look like a sleeper in order to not be rice then you my fiend are driving one of the riciest cars on the road.
