faith&firepower got his running well eventually but I'm not sure how much of the Esmeril kit was left by the time he got it situated.

The only thing left from the kit that we used was the turbo and intercooler....that is all.

Sure it is. Just have to do your research before buying a kit. A lot o f members here did not do that.

i was thinking that 5k would be something i would not mind doing to turbo my 8, but after reading lots of threads and writing people, i get the feeling that it is not worth it to me. dropping over 5k to get 20 hp more is ridiculous to me. i would like to have someone show me where i am wrong and have misguided info but ive yet to see otherwise..i know people have gotten more than 20hp with a turbo but i also know they have gone through a lot of headaches and lots more money..

20hp?
I'm curious where you got this number from? Link?

More like 75 to 150 rwhp (ish)

My setup added 100 whp and 100 ft lbs to the wheels.

If all you have is $5k to spend for FI then do not do it. There are a lot of things to purchase other than the turbo kit itself.

i didnt literally mean 20hp..i will have to be more thorough and literal from now on and provide links to when i find something that seems questionable..sorry for that WCS..i see now that my 5k assumption was something that was too low..i had an rsx in which i spent about 10k on to turbo and to change axles and other stuff..i figured 10k would be over doing it for a turbo set up on my 8. i see from others that i am wrong

Not really over doing it with 10k. You can do a turbo kit and all for 5k or under by first buying a used kit from someone on the forum + other needed parts upgraded ignition, clutch, injectors, etc... Then being able to install it yourself. Finally being able to tune the kit professionally by yourself. If you have all those skill's than the cost can be much cheaper. Also factor in the possibility of blowing your motor once going FI, so $2500-3k for a re-man from mazmart. If you can do everything yourself you stay under 5k initially and under 10k in case anything goes wrong.

If you need a shop and a tuner to help you get everything dialed in you will need a bit more for the just in case re-man motor and the install charge/tuning charge.

i completely agree with you.i was able to install my last kit myself but had to take it to get tuned professionally along with up-sizing injectors and other small things i didnt consider or even know about..now that i have gone through that experience i feel like i still want to do it to the 8 but i am worried i may blow the engine. it was 52,000 miles on it and it recently passed a compression test but i dont know if i would like to chance it.

If you are not willing to blow a motor then do not FI the 8. $10k is realistic budget.

The best way to go about FI on the 8 is to purchase a re-manned renesis from mazmart or bhr. Then get all parts you need and start the install/tuning process. The budget for such will probably start around 10k. At least then you'll know you wont have a possible faulty motor to start.

thanks for everyone's insight..10k would be doable if i didnt have to worry about the engine blowing. i will definitely take that into consideration..that and the fact i cant seem to find a local shop that would be able to tune it properly will weigh heavily on my mind as i get close to my money goal for the car..

Since your in FL, I honestly would take a special trip to Pettit. Not sure how far they are from you. And have them look over / test your motor and go with them for install/tuning. It will be pricey but they are one of the best rotary shops on the east coast. They should be able to get a round about price for you as well.

They also do a good job at rebuilding a renesis.

i put 332 at the wheels but i blew the engine because it spiked at 16.3 psi. does anyone want this kit from me? 4500 or best offer. i upgraded the turbo which had a broken oil seal, and i got a shop down in portsmouth va to fix it up nice before i blew an apex seal. im advertising on craigslist 2008 Mazda RX8 Turbo/partout. i prefer to deal locally but i could ship as long as you pay shipping. pretty much everything is for sale. the turbo i have on now is a ball bearing billet turbonetics t4 all the way around.

click on 2008 Mazda RX8 Turbo/partout to view the turbo setup.
as you all may know esmeril racing is not the most reliable company to deliver, if at all. i own the turbo kit which i bought in 2011 and in 2013 i blew an apex seal because of an overboost problem. and im sure my engine had other problems to begin with. i had two deployments where my car was just sitting with this turbo on untuned, which contributed to it dying. but i had the car worked on in portsmouth, va and they tuned it and fixed everything using cobb accessport. The dyno put out 332 whp. i upgraded the orginal t3t4 turbo with a turbonetics ball bearing billet t4 turbo. it is only oil cooled however. im also selling my car wholesale for 10K if anyone is interested in that. all the pics are on craigslist but pm me for my number if you need to see more pics. i feel like i can post this here because eff this guy.

This is the perfect turbo kit for Autocross with a fat torque curve and lots of area under the curve from 2500rpm to redline.

We looked at the market and saw a need for an entry level turbo kit with the following criteria:
  • 280-350whp capable out of the box.
  • Easily upgradeable to the HP kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Cobb accessible with adapter kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Greddy competitive pricing.
  • Super quick spooling, 2000-2500rpm.
  • Good power band in the upper RPM range (lots of area under the curve).
  • Based on the same great platform as our original HP Kit.
  • Garrett turbocharger.

We are offering this kit at a price of $3995.00!!!! Unheard of!

For more information and to purchase click here:

PM, Email for more info.

Thanks for looking!

I purchased their kit and then some. These people have the worst customer service ever..their site says no more then eight weeks to ship and yet here I am week nine to ten and not so much as a tracking number or response. I've contacted them plenty of times. Nothing. My first order with them they messed up the shipping on it. DO NOT TRUST THEM! Probably why they're no longer sponsored.

Have you CC company reverse the charges ASAP. Tell them you have not received any parts and the company will not return your calls.

Your biggest headaches are yet to come with this kit.
