New Esmeril Racing Standard Turbo Kit Released-$3995.00!!!

NEW TURBO KIT RELEASED!!!

Aimed at potential Greddy customers, this kit allows you to surpass numbers that the Greddy turbo kit can only dream of while spending no more. It provides excellent drivability and instant boost giving the RX-8 that much needed torque at the lower end of the power band.

This is the perfect turbo kit for Autocross with a fat torque curve and lots of area under the curve from 2500rpm to redline.

We looked at the market and saw a need for an entry level turbo kit with the following criteria:
  • 280-350whp capable out of the box.
  • Easily upgradeable to the HP kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Cobb accessible with adapter kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Greddy competitive pricing.
  • Super quick spooling, 2000-2500rpm.
  • Good power band in the upper RPM range (lots of area under the curve).
  • Based on the same great platform as our original HP Kit.
  • Garrett turbocharger.

We are offering this kit at a price of $3995.00!!!! Unheard of!

For more information and to purchase click here:

We offer the kit with a T4 Flanged (for interchangeability with our Precision Unit) Garret T04 turbo.

It is just right for 350whp on a rotary.

Can we see pictures of the complete kit?
How did your test cars do as far as reliability?
Dyno maybe?

We didn't do long term tests on this setup because it is based on our HP kit but at lower power levels and if anything it should offer improved reliability. Our HP kit was tested and retested for 30k miles initially before its release in 2006 and has been proven and tested time and time over again in many customer cars. We didn't change the core of the turbo kit when going to the Standard so we didn't need to re-test the main components.

What we do know is that the engine should strain less with less horse power and that the turbo is a very proven Garret unit so long term reliability is not a concern for us right now.

We do not have a dyno yet but are working on having one soon. We are currently working on a test platform and will post pictures and dyno soon.

Best regards,

Chris

Yes, top mount. It is based on the HP kit with the same manifold and down pipe.

It will hopefully be sooner than later that someone/anyone can "donate" a S2 car to Chris long enough for he and his crew to explore and develop a reliable tuning method so that these turbos become a truly viable and reliable option for the S2 crowd.

Seems to me that if anyone is able and willing to do this, it would most likely be the boys at Esmeril.

Esmeril, in your professional opinion or those with good experience/knowledge with going turbo with a series I. What else is would be recommended or definately good to have thats not included in this kit. obviously gauges to monitor but I'm trying to figure what the true total price would be for parts to get reliable as possible power out of this kit in the 300range , not necessarily upgrades to max it out.

For the standard kit all you would need is the following:

Needed:
  • Boost gauge
  • AFR gauge
  • Fuel Management (our Plug and Play ECU or other)

Recommended:
  • Water/Methanol Injection
  • Cobb Adapter Kit if using a Cobb (kit to be released shortly)

That would sum it up.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Chris

I notice you have high flow cat listed as a future purchase...if you're going FI skip it and just get a resonated mid-pipe. Odds are you will burn through that cat, at least with FI in the 8 that's been my experience.

I would suggest a few more things that you might consider changing:
1. uprated oil pressure regulator
2. radiator fan control - if you're going AP then this will address that
3. Alter your water to coolant mix for summer and winter driving in Chicago
4. Premix
5. Use a 40 weight oil

Another tuning option would be Shook Motorsports. He's successfully dyno tuned with the AP several Greddy turbo cars.

Chris, looks like a great setup and at a sorely needed price point!

not bad, not bad, so you would say upgrading stuff like the clutch or the apex seals is a bit of overkill for this kit as-is?

For 350whp or less it would not be necessary.

Chris

Engine management is not included because we will be offering the choice of using a MAF based system like the Cobb in the near future so the choice will be yours. We do offer the Microtech plug and play system and frankly, we really like it.

Best regards,

Chris

should have just re-read this post, so are there going to be maps available for those who plan on using the AP or will it just have to be retuned by the installer

Why is it that vendors are so secretive about what turbo they use - never could understand this .....

Hehe, this time I wasn't trying to be secretive. The turbo is in fact a Garret T4 though, literary a T4, that is what its called. In this kit we offer it with a .84 A/R but there are several A/R's to choose from. Inlet on the compressor housing is 3" and outlet is 2.5" so its a standard T4 turbo. Commonly known as a T04E/B.

Hope that clears it up

Best regards,

Chris
