Back from the Grave

Hi all;

Its been a long time coming but I am finally back. I originally owned a 2004 RX-8 GT (AUTO) with Moonroof and Nav and picked it up Aug 19th 2003. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it in August 2005 due to marriage and buying a bigger house ($$$) and took a massive loss on it.

Anyway, I'm back and want to know a few things regarding 2006 + RX-8

Through my research, I hear that 2006 AUTO RX8 got a boost in HP from 197 to 212 HP ....is this true on all 2006s or is it just the Shinka Edition.

I have also read that the AUTO is now a 6-speed and not a 4-Speed like my old 2004 RX8....is this true to all 2006 models.

Secondly, I see that there is a SHINKA Special Edition in 2006. Is it better to Purchase the Shinka Special Ed or just the regular GT model.

Finally, I remember I was getting poor gas mileage (480 KM/TANK) and had to oil up every second gas fill....Has there been any improvement?

I cannot believe how cheap the RX8s are priced right now and I loved my 2004 (Cost me $52,000 taxes in), so I want to get a new one.

Please let me know

Andrew

are you kidding me? 480 to a tank...you must have that wrong....if so, thats not bad at all. 480 on a 50ish litre tank is really good for a car known for guzzling gas. and no, there arent improvements in mileage. still a rotary powered sports car. still torqueless and terrible on gas and oil. the only imporvements at all are on the 09 8s, they added another oil injecter...should use more oil if anything, but it is suposed to cure a few "problems" (cold start, engine life etc.). as for shinkas...they have nicer dampers (bilsteins IIRC)....thats really the only plus aside from the kick *** colour. As for your questions about the auto tranny stuff....i dont know, someone else can answer those i guess....auto doesnt do it for me so i dont take it upon myself to remember anything abuot them. good luck getting back into the addiction

I do all highway driving and get about 400KM a tank.

And yeah, I am sure the 2006 had the 212HP rating

Gaels22 yes everything you said is right. The auto went from 4 to 6 sp tranny which made some more hp to 212hp.

The SHINKA I believe has a bit better suspension, it's a tighter ride from what I know. Depends on price differences, but if you don't care I would be inclined to look into the SHINKA.

Nope gas is still shitto. I have gotten between 400-460km/tank.
