What are the regular servicing intervals?
I must have had rocks in my head since I didn't even bother asking what are the service intervals for the RX-8.
Just got a 2010 RX-8 GT, haven't got it yet, still waiting for delivery.
I just presumed its 1000kms, then, 5000kms, 10,000kms and so on - if anybody knows more please fill me in.
So - what other things do I need to be aware of - fellas, will I need to take another mortgage-on to service this beast or what?

Your owner's manual has the service intervals, both 'normal' and 'severe' operation. Enthusiasts typically go with the severe schedule just as added preventive maintenance assurance.
Nope, just a little more attention to oil level then most cars since it's designed to use a bit of oil to lubricate the rotor apex seals (somewhat akin to piston rings).

Thanks for the advice. I've got no problems taking regular care of my car - it adds to the appeal plus I like to have the bonnet up. If the car does not require any oil, water, air or tinkering for 25,000kms I lose interest in it.

Read your manual.
In Australia it's every 10k for minor, 20k for a bit more than minor and 60k for major.
However, interestingly enough, Europe does away with the 10k minor and only has a 20k service interval.
Does anyone know why?

Yeah, the recommended service interval as already mentioned is 10K.
Do yourself (or at least your new 8 a favor) and do an oil and filter change at 1K, 5K and then the regular 10K. I do a regular 5K service.
If you look at a few of Ash8 posts and my post here

you will see there is some benefit to smaller service intervals.
