Renesis NC Track Car - In the Build
Cheers,
Danny
It was a rather warm day at the Automotive Plus / GT Auto Garage 2014 Open Day yesterday. Here's a few piccies and a dyno video. I was rather happy when it made another 5rwkW over the previous dyno run....all the seals are bedding in well. So peak power is now 338 rwkW (453 rwhp) @ 9,800rpm!
Cheers,
Danny

Wow I don't know how I didn't see this build thread until now. I watched the WTAC live stream from beginning to end (stayed up until like 5AM). Your car looked and sounded great out there man. Can't wait to see more progress.
I really wish we had an equivalent of WTAC over here in the states that I could run at. Super jealous of that event.

I wish you had an equivalent event in the US too. Would love to take the car there. :-)
You should come to Australia for WTAC 2015 and experience it first hand. I've been involved since 2010 and it keeps getting bigger and better every year.
Cheers,
Danny
Hi Arca_ex, thanks for the positive feedback. As you might have gathered that was the debut for the car. It hadn't been on any track until the WTAC 2014 event. So we were very happy with how it went. Yes there will be a lot more progress as only 50% of the aero package was completed for WTAC 2014. I'm working towards having it finished by May next year. The first event for 2015 is in February so I'm hoping to get a good chunk of it done before then.

Hopefully Time Attack will continue to grow here. Circuit of the Americas in Texas would be a facility capable of supporting a WTAC style event.
I wish I could go all the way to Australia to see it in person but that is just not in the budget, all my resources get dumped into my cars and making it out to the track haha. For now I will keep enjoying the great coverage of the event, the live stream this year was fantastic.
I know this is a pretty significant thread-bump but I'd like to highlight something to the OP... my post from 2013:
I just wanted to say thanks to the OP for the inspiration to follow a real dream of mine to do an engine-swap & create something I believe should have been made from the factory!
Going to the effort of posting the pics you did & the details behind the initial part of this project thread was pivotal to getting the feasibility part of my project car started in my own head as it wouldn't have happened at all otherwise.
Thanks to the hint that the NC & RX8 subframes might actually be similar, about 18 months ago I started doing serious research into a Renesis-powered NC MX5 concept as I love the way the rotary makes power but I also love the roof-down motoring experience of the MX5s.
I started with measuring the subframe mounting points of an NC then did the same on an 8, used the info I'd gathered in this thread, rang my insurance company, gathered a team of people together that shared the same vision I had to pull off a "factory-look" 13B-MSP'd MX5 & 18 months later with of a lot of time, effort, blood, sweat, stress, money & an awful lot of heart thrown into the mix, I'm now driving the 96% finished product!!
So even though you ended up going down an alternative (admittedly epic) route, you gave me enough of an idea to start my own - thanks very much!
*Tips hat*
