I hate to bump a year old thread, but this is truly an inspiration. Assuming the MZR in my 08 NC kicks the bucket; I will be doing this swap.

^--- not really worth the effort. I love the work the guy put into this car but really the FM/cosworth SC is the way to go on a NC.

The build is back on track for time attack. A new engine is now in place and the supercharged renesis has been sidelined.

The FM SC is a great setup, but I just want something a little different. I have long been a fan of the rotary, and it's just something that I want to do some day.

A bunch of us owned miata's and sold them for the rx8. Unless your a hardcore fab guy you just need to bone up sell the miata and buy a RX. The cost of doing such a swap job would be more then a new car unless you can do all the fab work yourself.

The only real fab work I would have to do would be electrical. The motor, trany, and front sub-frame bolt right on. The only fab work I would have to do is to make the stock ecu work.

Is there any foreseeable future to this project being finished? It seems like it was so close to being ready & I'd really like to see how the Renesis mounts on the NC subframe etc, whether there's a lot of wiring needed, etc - all the technical feasibility questions!

Also, is the Hymee SC kit still available to buy or was it a batch in the end? Every link I've tried to find for his site has either said my IP has been blocked (Error 403.6; I'm apparently on a list of blocked IPs..?) or else the page doesn't exist.

Oh really, well did you read this entire thread (OP's posts)..
You also need to modify PPF.

Plus, remember ALL suspension and drive train in NC is lighter (thinner) in specifications than RX-8, so reliability will be compromised.

Diff, Axles/Drive Shafts, Brakes, Suspension Links, Hubs and Wheel Bearings (rear particularly)...all lighter weight on NC.

The renesis build has ended and a peripheral port 20B is now in place. A lot of work has been done with more to come before the project is finished.

Here is the build thread: AusRotary.com • Login

Danny has a couple of Hymee superchargers that may be available for sale. They may require some modification to overcome some of the shortcomings however, Danny has the ability to modify these based on the experience with my kit. The only unresolved issue for me is the bypass valve. This needs to be redesigned to overcome stalling on deceleration. Danny, believes he has a solution for this issue.

Shame that the project ended before it'd been finished though.

Thanks for the update skc! I'll give that link a look now.

Looking good. How long before you get to test it at the track?

Amazing result Danny. You did well to get the car running on time let alone competing.

Look forward to seeing this car on the local tracks soon.

Thanks JCrane82 and skc.

Had a really good test day out at the Maximum Attack event at Queensland Raceway on Saturday.

This was the first time I've had the car at QR so I was really excited to drive at a circuit I knew. The few bits and pieces we addressed after WTAC 2014 went very well and uncovered a few more bits and pieces that need addressing.

By the end of the event I had achieved what was previously known as the Holy Grail in the local Time Attack series. This is when you complete a sub-60 second lap of the Clubman Circuit....and I was stoked to do this at my first QR event with a 59.3986 second lap.

Here's a few photos from the usual culprits....

Here's a short video of a few laps (early in the event) before my camera died!

...and a well put together video summary of the event.

Cheers,
Danny

Good work Danny you will get better times as you do more track days and refine the car.

My best time around that track was 64 seconds prior to FI several years ago.
