Not true.
The shape, length and rate of increase/reduction makes a MASSIVE difference in not only the base measurements made by the MAF but also its response time and resistance to ringing.

after the 4th go I finally got it to work.

similar to brettus's pic above and moved the recirculation point further away from the compressor mouth.

I also re-installed the ARE 600x310 intercooler. I picked up a bit of flow and now hit 325g/s.
