Some of us are now receiving recall notices for suspension and/or heat issues.

Obviously, you should have that work done ASAP and well before the Nats. Remember, you track your car at your own risk.

Or as in my case, both issues, not either.

Cheers,

Sheesh, Timbo's already had a go at me about the drafting of the initial version of that post.

Why, oh why, did I ever let it slip....sob . Anonymity of profession is a luxury not lightly to be given up.

How about we pretend I'm a chippie or something from now on?

A chippie, eh! Sounds about right. When the only tool you have is a hammer, it's amazing how all your problems look like nails.

I live by the chippies creed.....

Regarding a cruise in company down to Wakefield on the Friday afternoon of the Nats weekend, I did some looking on my way down over this weekend and can report as follows:

The roadhouse I mentioned earlier in the thread is the Mobil at Pheasants Nest (as Timbo commented). It is 53.8kms south of the M5 Toll Plaza.

Another option a little closer to Sydney is a largish rest area, which is 36.4kms south of the M5 Toll Plaza.

As far as I could see there is nowhere closer to Sydney that is safe to turn off the highway and wait at but I'm open to suggestions.

I'm keen to pick somewhere south of the main congested areas because the M5 can get very busy on a Friday arvo and trying to maintain any kind of convoy will be just too hard.

Unless someone's got a better suggestion, my vote is for the Rest Area - there's plenty of parking room and we won't be bothering anyone if some of us are there for half an hour or more waiting for others to turn up.

As for timing, I'd suggest 3.30 for a 4.00pm sharp departure. That should get us to Wakefield by 6.00pm easy.

BTW, some added info that some might find useful:

1. There is a BP about 27kms north of Goulburn selling Ultimate. Filling up there should see you right for the track day but depending on how much time you spend on the track you may need to fill up upon leaving Goulburn the next day.

2. You will note that the directions from Sydney in the Event Guide mention turning left over a bridge when you're on the Braidwood Road. This bridge is marked with a number of signs, which includes a blue 'Wakefield Park' sign.

3. MACCAA tells me the Braidwood Road is often patrolled by unmarked cars before and after events at the track so take it easy on the way to and from.

4. MACCAA and I checked out one of the villas. Not the Taj Mahal but looks very comfortable and has a fantastic view of the track and surrounds. A dozen people will fit in each one easy.

5. Please ensure you are on time and your car is ready for scrutineering. If people all turn up late and/or forget to do things like removing all loose items, the program will be delayed and we will simply have less track time.

6. All the stories you've heard about Wakefield being cold are TRUE! For example, it was 10+ degrees colder in Wakefield today then it was in Sydney so pack your woollies. You've been warned!

Yes...BP Marulan is the last point to fill up on Ultimate coming from Sydney, unless you want to drive into Goulburn.

As to weather, bring a parka...ith will be windy in October, and if it's at all cool, those of you especially from northern climes, will be cold.

Sounds like a kite was part of the gift set Don't see why not -- there's plenty of space. After all, there's already been plenty in the forum :p

Happy birthday to Miss 6!

Yep, she'll find room to fly her kite. And there's sure to be plenty of hot air available.

Accomodation at Wakefield is all booked out for the Friday and Saturday night. I got the last room. I snoozed and I nearly loozed. There is still accomodation available in town, but I'd move quickly as there is a convention in town that weekend.

I faxed off the form to book accommodation at the track this morning, but haven't heard anything back. Wonder if I've just snuck in?

Woohoo, I'm in! Must have just made it.
I feel sorry for those who will miss out, maybe we can squeeze them in there somewhere (in Taka's room of course)?
