Clarify please someone? hehe
How many hours drive: Sydney to Melbourne (@ speed limit)?
$850 is firm price for tune+dyno?

Very keen, but might not be able to take 4 days off (tune+driving) given that its run over 2 days

8-9 hours I believe once you get out of traffic. Been a while since I have done it.

Thanks andrew.
If anyone could assist/chime..

So its a before and after dyno is that correct, to determine/prove hp gain at the wheels? Or is it 5-7hp/12-15hp(exhaust) based on advertisement?

I think I read the tune removes fuel-cut meaning the car is able to sit on 9400 and chug on fuel consistently as I can pee? I'm noob, just need more clarity.

I've been out of warranty for half a year, things are getting abit quiet, hopefully this will liven my experience. I've spent 5k on my car and not even 1HP gain LOL. Its about time, and at $850, woohoo!

Thanks.
Tuan

I think I posted early on that Jas has said expect around 10hp at the wheel, cooler running with the fan kicking in earlier, etc. Dont remember seeing anything about fuel cut but could be wrong!. Have you read the Singapore thread that I posted a link to?

Cheers

Andrew

Yeap I read through that thread twice Andrew, some interesting stuff there.

I got it wrong, Jason stated in the 1st post, an increase in rev limit and speed cut out. Are we talking about a conservative rev limit of a couple of hundred rpm, or pub-talkin' 13 000rpm? Is it a set parameter that KS decide or up to the customer to choose from conservative tunes to race tunes?

hi Rxp33d,
Rev limit increase is approx an extra 500 rpm. In regards to time required to have tune/dyno done , it all takes place on the same day , so really you only need to allocate a day for this , and maybe one day travelling time to Melbourne and another day travelling back.
The reason that the rev limit is raised is that the tune generally will provide further hp improvements at these higher revs , whereas with the stock tune , power drops away above about 8900 rpm, making further revving pointless.

Regards
Rexi

Unless there is power increase over that high rev band. It is pointless even if it is flat. I suspect increasing torque at 5000rpm is vital.

Starting from Castle Hill. Using the M7. I'll do MEL in around 8+ hours depending on how many times I have to stop.

This is too good a deal to pass up, so its 5 days on annual leave & a visit to the parents for me.

Having paid over $2k for "chipped" ECU's before from reputable Japanese companies. This deal is a bargain & you will kick yourself for missing out if you dont go.

Just to let everyone know, I have driven the First Remapped 6MT on Saturday,
The car felt nice and strong, (cmpared to the stock one i drove previous to that) Revved smoother to Redline, with more pull up top.
The customer / mate of mine was happy with it bottom line. So I`m sure you guys will too.
I havent got anymore hard data yet, i.e dyno figures etc, but will try to get his on the dyno in the next couple of weeks to let you know.
He is also going to do a fuel economy test to compare.

We also Remapped DMRH`s ECU, without a noticable feel, but he has only driven the car a few times previous to remap also. Plus I think with the auto it will be a bit hard to tell until higher in the RPM or until the convertor locks etc??

Regards Jas.

I'll find out a week or two closer to the date whether I'm able to take days off. There are a heap of jobs lined up so I'm still maybe, but fingers crossed.

This one I got to see, 8 hours drive is a small price to pay for JDM tuning!

Plus there is nothing to lose considering I'm out of warranty. Want to make the most out of the last year with my 8.

All things considered!

Good news fdracrer about the 6MT remapped ecu results. What local Mazda flash was this car running before KS remapping?
I ask this because there has very recently(Last month or so) been a new flash(Hard start flash) for our OZ Rx8's from the dealer when servicing, but as quite a few of us aren't due for a service for a while and aren't having hard start issues, we are running the previous flash. I am not planning on having this latest OZ Mazda flash installed for the KS remap day unless we really have to. Is this OK or do we have to have a uniform local Mazda flash tune to begin with for the KS remap..
Can you please advise.
Regards
Rexi

REXI,

I see no real point in getting the latest reflash, as the KS flash will totally overwrite that anyways with a way better tune. Unless there are some other
parameters that the Mazda do that KS don`t. But I seriously doubt it.

It is expected to have some owners to go there... thinking that they may suck in and get it done at the same time

Wouldn`t you for the best cheapest for powergain performance mod to your RX8, which may not be able to be performed for a long time here in OZ!!

Check this out!

http://rxreviews.wordpress.com/2007/05/

Stock 6 speed Rx8 with only knightsport ecu and no engine / exhaust mods posted 202.3 hp at the wheels on their dyno in Singapore. This is very promising, as the knightsport tune for Singapore is similar to ours as it was developed for 98 octane fuel.

That is a JDM model, but I have no reason to see why our car cannot be the same.

Does Singapore get better fuel.

I'd be happy with 202HP. Is that like 147kW?

You don't believe in dyno's though do you taka?

what I believe in is the difference, not the absolute figure.

coz I have seen the same car varies from 100 to 140kW atw on different dynos

That is so sweet. 150kW.

QUESTION: Say if someone after the tune decided to change their aftermarket exhaust to a different aftermarket exhaust, would that defeat the purpose of the tune?
