Latest result after todays dynotune -
this was a third gear pull as speed limiter cuts in before redline in 4th.

Think this is Equivalent to over 200 whp on dynojet as used in US so i'm pretty happy with this .
Stock whp was approx. 170

Well done Brettus. Did monitoring the AFR's with the scan tool help much? It looks like you got it pretty consistent.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I'm interested... why a 3rd gear pull? We always shift around 3K till we get into 5th then WOT to rev limiter. Does it have to do with the type of Dyno?

My 8 is speed limited to 189k approx. so in 4th I only get to 8300rpm before it cuts in.

I got the afr's spot on with scan tool before the dyno but found it had actually lost power .
Once we found where the timing gave most power we dialled in the afrs again and got the gains.
BTW : We tested the readings from scan tool against wide band o2 on the dyno & found it was spot on

Thanks for validating this! You da man!

Like I said all along... Not to mention the "arguments" I had with some people...

Regards timing and fuel - yep, they need to be changed together. If you change the timing, then you need to go back and do the AFR's again.

I'm glad someone else has independently used sCANalyser as one of the tools to get the most out of their motor

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hello! Lasse from Sweden here. I now have my own hub dyno a Rototest which can handle about 700 rwhp. I dyno my RX-8 yesterday wih the following mods: Ferrita 2.5" hi flow cat and 2.5@ front silencer stock rear silencer and stock front "header". I use Shell V-power 99 octane unleaded and 0.5 mm pills in actuator hoses. The car made 141 kw or 191.8 din rwhp@8600 rpm. I have only use the Rototest a few days so i am in a learning mode. Note oil temperature went from 110*C to 142*C in the test but i have Motul 300 V oil so im not scared lol.

/Lasse

ok, RB flash brought me up to 209 HP

some additional tweaks then produced 213 HP and 142 TQ at the wheels. Increase is mostly at the top, but with the tweaks the gain started from a very low 2250 rpm This is NA with custom intake, full custom exhaust with cat converter, AC delete, and race pulley set, engine is otherwise OE, car in full STU configuration from the SCCA National Championship event.

Yes, I ran 0.5 oz/gal premix on all runs, I haven't really analyzed the difference between RB and OE yet other than peak HP increase

the gain from the tweaks started at 2250 and increased all the way, largest gain was approx 8 hp at 7300 rpm (there was a small dip in the pre-tweaks curve that smoothed off), peak HP is at 8460 rpm. The entire curve from 2250 up is higher which adds up for area under the curve, but the gains between 2250 and 5400 are small.

Team - the low down increases all due to the pulley/AC delete right ?

I never ran a pure OE baseline so I don't have any data on the individual parts differences. I made all the mods and then ran the 1st dyno. 2nd dyno was mods + RB flash. 3rd dyno is #2 + tweaks. I'm only commenting about the difference between #2 & #3

Just speculating here - wonder if your cold air intake is keeping the charge air cooler at low rpm giving you some gains there ??

are you not at liberty to speak about the tweaks because of an agreement with a company such as Racing Beat or are you not at liberty to speak because you don't want to give away any secrets because of autocross purposes?

I'm not at liberty to speak, period

Looks like I already shot off my mouth too soon. I was not present for the dyno tests and just assumed they were run on a Dynojet the same as the first test. Just found out they were run on a Mustang dyno ....

whoa boy--looking even better?
Good news on the potential. After so many years(it seems) things are starting to get MUCH better. At one point I was afraid this engine was going to get left behind.

Can I ask you for 1 bit of info Team Are your tweaks something that we could all do to streetable cars or are they things you would only do on a race car ?

Holy crap...Mustang dyno numbers. You must be getting close to what Speedsource has stated from time to time they get out of their engines - in the 260bhp range.
