Unhappy $#ITI start to my lonf holiday weekend.

So I was on my way home from work. I got the 8 washed and took it home and finished with some spray detailer to get the water spots. Installed my pillar overlays and was done.

The weekend is here so let me fill her up. I was on E already and was on my way to the gas station, 1 block away BAM!! Car died...

Outta GAs,, more that likely, so I tried to start twice, no luck.

A few off duty Marines push my car 1.5 blocks up a small incline into the gas station.

I filled up, premium of course. I tried to start, no luck!!!

So I read on the forum that If possibly flooded, find a hill and just clutch start it....

I proceeded down a small hill, put it in 2nd and bam it started up. This was in no way an abrupt bog and start. Just a smooth start.

I get to the bottom of the hill and I hear the engine chatter. Best way do describe it is like loose metal in a metal box. it is present during acceleration and deceleration.

Well I was 2 exits from a dealer so I dropped it off there till Tuesday when all the techs get back.

Any Ideas?
I am so upset, I've only had the car for 2 weeks and I was on top of the oil too.

Could be a flood, may want to try a search for "marbles in a can" sound, blown engine, etc. too. No compression = no start.

I would say a bad engine. The noise you are hearing is a seal bouncing around inside. It's an 04 so it could be outside of it's original warrenty. The engine is warrentied for 8/80 so it should be replaced under that.

If it is the engine, you'll love the new extended warranty for it

I've only had the car for 2 weeks
I would be mad too if that happened to me. Does sound like a bad engine.

Before I got the car, I did some research so I knew I was rolling the dice. I just hope that this is not replacement engine already. Or does that matter.?

If it's a bad engine, you're covered under the 100K mile warranty for the core.

Could also be time for coils wires and plugs i suppose.

Well its not a bad engine, the tech said it is the clutch or flywheel.
I am very tempted to pick it up and have my buddies install a new EXEDY CLutch and Fidanza flywheel.

The dealer says I am looking at around $1200 with new clutch and resurfacing of flywheel.

What do you guys think?

I am just worried I will get the car and its something else.

Could be if the car initally died due to lack of gas and the rest is tied to the tranny. Should know as soon as someone cracks it open if this is really the problem.

Cool, their lack of trouble shooting got you a free clutch!

For Real, all they had to do was
the transmission and it would have been a new drive train.
