New to KC
Just came out here from Denver, Colorado. Looking for any rotary or RX-8 clubs in the area. Or if anyone on this post to open to starting a FB group. I'm not great with the whole organizing people thing or I would start one myself. Would be nice to have a place to organize meet and greets, cruises, share advice on mechanics, and such.

This forum is a great source for answers.

Looking for engine rebuild in Kansas City
Sorry to post in here. Can't create new thread and not sure where to post my question.
My 04 RX8 finally reached to the point that I need a engine rebuild because of low compression issue. Brought to dealer and they said my compression values is only ~4.6 for all. That's why engine can't stay idle or won't start when engine warm up. They want to charge me $6000 for a new engine(out of warranty) but I don't have that much money to spend on 10 years car. Anyone has any recommendation on where can I find someone to rebuild the engine in Kansas city?

I have no personal experience with him, but London Motorworks, formerly Rotary Rocket , has been recommended to me by someone he used to work for. Around Wornall, I think.
Try him, & keep us updated.
Good luck!

I don't know of anyone locally, I do most of my own mechanic work, rebuilding rotaries is out of my league.
The only ones I know of usually require removing the engine & shipping it.
Rotary Resurrection is considered highly, but that's probably not what you're looking for.
Dealer remans are sketchy, you''ll probably have to do some serious researching if you're intent on getting it done.
Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

Hi, I've got a 07 and my neighbor is a super do-it yourself home mechanic-has done alot of his own rebuilds in the past(mostly on a olden Z that he raced. He's helped me with a number of things on my '8. He has an older RX7,a WRX,and still enters a few races locally. He has a network of friends that are involved in sport car racing and knows alot of people. I'll ask him about getting a rotary rebuld in the KC area and try to get back to you. If you want ,email me your email address
Mine's jcblessing@ymail.com.
I'll get back if I have anymore info.

buzzaloo,I sent you an email, but if you didn't receive it,The best info I have on a rotary engine rebuild in our area(K.C.) is Jesse Prather, who is top notch and builds racing Mazdas, very sucessfull. Check with his web site: jesseprathermotorsports.com.
His business in in Topeka,KS. Nothing to highly recommend in Kansas City itself.
Good luck,

Thanks jcblessing! Currently, dealer told me that my car can only run for 15 mins before engine lost power because of low compression. Topeka is about 70 miles away. Towing my car over will cost me another hundred or so dollars. Will keep that in mind as my last option.

Just to vouch for Jesse, I had my car towed from Wichita to Topeka for him to rebuild it (no car transport company would take it because of low compression). The tow and the rebuild were worth every penny.
