Best offer 2004 grey RX8 for mechanically inclined!
For sale on best offer, mechanically inclined only!
For sale on OBO: Gray RX8 2004
I have a 2004 RX8 with 168K on original engine. The engine is suspect, it died on my daughter although it just passed smog couple of weeks before.
She alternately drives a Miata hardtop also. I am tight with financing and don't want to spend $1600 on plugs, coil and starter before the dealer can check the engine compression and risk hearing the bad news engine is RIP. (That's rest in peace kids, as in dead)

You need to provide a price, even if it's OBO.
And as I noted in your thread earlier, plugs, coils, and wires are $192 shipped to your door, and the starter can be tested for free at auto parts stores.

In dire need of help & suggestions!
I don't have any "car fixing" experience to brag about.

Based on everybody's testimonials on this site, I prefer to keep the car if possible.
Can somebody please direct me to a shop that can replace the plugs, coil & starter and eventually replace the engine if necessary. The car is now in a Fresno, CA dealership.
Again, direct me please.

Relax my man, Listen. The parts for coils, plugs and wires should cost you online anywhere from $200-400 MAX!! The job itself is a 0.5 hour job at most places, probably an 1hr at a dealership, Please do not give the dealership $1,600, they are robbing you blind!

A brand new starter from Mazmart is $350. You can get remanufactured ones for cheaper, and used one for FAR cheaper. One of the partout threads on here (several going) should have a working starter for you.
Replacing it is 2 bolts and 2 clips, easy access under the car.

If it will be a lot better if compression is good.

I can't do an engine swap or compression test lol. Was just offering to help you with the labor for everything else that honestly you can do with very little mechanical know how. You'd be surprised what a difference new ignition will do for the call.
