in all honesty i feel that mazda wasn't looking for 'support' or 'approval' by any means when they came out with this car. Sure more power would've been great but every vehicle has it's drawbacks. People can always add more power - but to have our handling out of the box at the price it's at is fine by me. You can only improve the handles so much before you realize that your power output is probably not going to match it's ability to put it to the ground efficiently.
but i mean, to accurately describe a point of view shared by most of the rx8 community - you should definitely check out what a lot of credited people have been saying for years...it's a matter of just 'getting it'
btw, have you ever driven one?? if not...you should try it - prefferably in a turn...

LOL yeah I know the 8 drives great, have you tried out the MS3 yet? Those handle well too. Oh wait the MSP best handling FWD ever of it's time then recently beat out by the MS3. Mazda did their homework there but they added the turbos to the car to get them out of the hole after that sharp curve. Not so well for the MSP but a lot better for the MS3. The MS3 is a beast, great handling car and a LOT of power. A lot of cars dyno 260+ hp stock with just a factory Mazdaspeed intake.
Mazda needed to get away from the turbo'd rotaries due to all the issues the FD had. It would have been SUICIDE of them to release a turbo'd RX8.
I can see it with the 1.6L but the 1.3 had to prove itself in NA form first.

Well I can deal with a car that doesn't get great fuel economy if it makes great power. If it doesn't make great power then there needs to be great fuel economy. I have gotten over 40mpg on my Protege and it put down over 240whp. That seems like a nice balance to me. :D
Oh I don't mean to come of as an RX8 hater but I really feel that Mazda should have put a turbo on this car. It learned a lesson on the 7 and should have put an extra qt or so capacity of oil just for the squirters. That and bigger coolers would go well to make the car a real contender the way the FD was.
I got my job at kohls before they even opened the location, i had to go through these intense group interviews and somehow landed a job and now this 2nd one is an overnight job at a doggy daycare, my best friends gf has worked their over a year so she got me hooked up.
