^ I work for a company called SOYO Inc. They manufacturer consumer electronic products like HDTVs, portable devices, ect. I basically got my foot in the door through networking. As long as you are friends with people in the industry you want to go in, doesn't need to be in photography, then that'll help get you in. For me, for instance, I knew the marketing director from a past company I worked for and he was my in. Over time, I just refine my skills through continued practice. Many companies do go through add agencies; however, many also like to keep a few in-house marketing people because it tends to be cheaper. Especially if they are always coming out with new products, like in the consumer electronics industry.

 

Is this the same soyo that made motherboards? My first computer had a Soyo KT-400.

 

HAHA yup same one. They got out of motherboards around the time of the SLI launch because it became too competitive and was a low margin industry. Profit at that time was very low. They decided to go into LCD Monitors and portable storage to try to stick within the computer tech industry and then expanded from there. Yeah good decision.. that mobo SUCKED! lol Hopefully they're doing better in consumer electronics. Even though the margins for that are dropping too... But then again what isn't.

Ya, tell me about it. Their new stuff is actually pretty good. Especially in the Honeywell line of products. They licensed the Honeywell name to come out with a tier one level of products. The Honeywell stuff is all pretty much bad *** IMO.
