ya, but CSULB's photo department sucks ***. hasn't taught me anything. so i added journalism to my major, and will be dropping photo soon

yaaaa..i know. but long beach's photo program is all dark room (i've been doing dark room for 6 years and haven't learned anything new since high school) and i want to do commercial photography..which as all digital. the funny thing is, those ******** told me they had exactly what i was looking for. then this semester, i was looking into all the classes and all were dark room processing, so i talked to the head of the department and told her that i wanted digital classes and she said they offered 3...out of 26. she was excited about it too and told me that i would be happy to know that 2 of those digital classes were lectures too!

so i peaced out of the photo department there and will probably just be taking classes at JCs that offer what i'm looking for. also, my focuses in journalism will be print and PHOTOjournalism

hmmm i don't know. i bought the Adobe CS3 full package last year, so if it was included in that, then yes. what does it do? guessing it has something to do with fixing the light?

ya, but everyone cleans their car, eats doughnuts, checks out everyone's setup, and takes pictures till then

 

people start lining up at 4:30 - 5:00 a.m. The reason for getting there that early is so we can get parking in the Main Lot. There is only so much room in there so if we show up late, we'll end up out in the general parking lot! With other PISTON powered cars.

 

I do commercial photography for my company and I pretty much taught myself. Never even took one photography class. In that dept., as long as you have a good portfolio, that'll get you the job.

 

that's what i keep hearing. and right now, i think i have a pretty good portfolio for someone that's never learned anything beyond dark room processing rules. if i may ask, what company do you work for, and how'd you get your foot in the door?

 

Yeah.. portfolios are important for any artistic job. I suggest picking what kind of photography you enjoy the most.. (studio, natural, journal, sports, paparazzi =D) And start building a portfolio. You can even rent a lightroom and take pics of entry models for free, bulding your portfolio and theirs. Honestly if I were a photographer I'd want to go freelance. Don't want to be stuck in studio shoots all day.

I'm still deciding if I should volunteer @ 7stock or go to the caravan..

 

ya, i really want to get into car photography. like, work for a company and shoot their ads. i think that would be a fun field.

and i vote you go to the caravan!!
