Service Advice Stockton, CA
Hey everyone! I have a 2004 Mazda RX8 6 speed. I leased it new, fell in love and paid it off. I had brought it to the Mazda dealer in Stockton, CA where I live since I have owned it. It is no longer under warranty and I am ready to break the chains of the dealer service center. I need help finding someone I can trust out here in the Valley to take good care of my baby. Any suggestions?

A little off topic but how was the dealer in Stockton? I just purchased an '04 and have to take it in for a recall and made an appointment with them, just curious how they treat you.

They have been hit and miss. They used to be pretty good but for some reason, probably due to the current economy, they have gone down hill. They moved in with another dealer (Volkswagon I think) and it feels very much added on. I have a radiator light that comes on when I am on the freeway that goes off after a while and they say they have looked at the coolant system and that nothing is wrong, but that doesn't explain why the light comes on. That is why I am looking for a new shop. So far I have only had Livermore as a recommendation. Need some one closer, hopefully trained on the Rotary engine.

I will be in the same boat as you, I'm near Sonora and also have been on the hunt for possible service/parts near by. For the most of the service it will be me since the closet dealer is 70 miles away. Hopefully Mazda will still honor the 8 year/100K extended warranty on the engine which will keep me happy for the next 2 years.

Lick420 you can search the trouble shooting forums and there are a couple of common reasons for the radiator light. Most cases not really anything to worry about.
rufusthedog if you want Mazda to honor the warranty you better keep all the receipts when you purchase oil, filter, etc. They will not honor the warranty in most cases if you cannot show proof that the maintenance has been done. I would probably make copies of all the receipts and some detailed records on the maintenance.
