Mine does that on specific pages of a thread, for instance, if someone posts a huge picture, or if they have a bunch of letters with no spaces, e.g. "Ahahahahaha" times a hundred.

RXZ88M is still here, because it won't pass smog...yup, can't pass smog so the guy is not interested in getting it. I figure it is the hi flow cat, and maybe bad spark plugs. If it is not those, then I have to look at getting the racing beat flash taken off....

360 guys...anyone interested in Enchanted Arms? If not, I'm going to sell it back to Game Stop now that I'm done with the game.

A 2004 car does not need to be smogged to be sold.

http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/smog-check.php

Cars Six Years Old and Newer
If your vehicle is six years old or newer, you will be charged an annual smog abatement fee when you register your vehicle, rather than being required to provide smog certification.

Exceptions
The six-year-or-newer rule doesn't apply to nonresident and custom-built cars made since 1976. Those vehicles require smog certification. If you have a custom or specially constructed car, however, you might need a different type of smog certification.

Title Transfer and Smog Requirements

When you sell a vehicle that is four or fewer model years old, a smog certificate will not be required in order to transfer the title. The buyer will pay a smog transfer fee of $8. If the vehicle sold is more than four model years old, the seller must provide evidence of a current smog certification except in any of the following situations:

The vehicle transfer occurs between a spouse, sibling, child, parent, grandparent, or grandchild.
The vehicle was registered and biennial smog certification was submitted to the DMV within 90 days before the date the title transfer took place. A vehicle inspection report may be required for proof of certification.

I'm assuming the buyer made that a condition of sale?

only because the buyer is an idiot and assumed that he would need smog to transfer the title. He didn't believe Keith that he had never had the car smogged and thought he was trying to pull a fast one on him. That is until the smog guy clarified that new cars dont have to be smogged for 6 years. Idiot. Oh sorry - already said that. But still - idiot.

I still don't get why you went and got the car smogged. You could have googled the smog info for CA .
Was the buyer THERE when you smogged it? That would be mistake #2.

If the buyer has any complaints . . . .. .

I went to his mechanic to have a pre-sale check. The car checked out fine. Recommended breaks, new front rotors and new fluids (oil, trans/diff, brake/clutch). Nothing too bad, just good maintenance prior to ownership of a used vehicle I would think.

Found that a spark plug wire was not plugged into one of the trailing plugs, that was interesting. Also found out my third brake light bulb is dead and needs a new one. No biggy.

Was ready to go down to the bank with the guy to do all the transfers....and that is when he said he wanted to know when I had last smogged the vehicle. That is when I had told him I hadn't had to smog the vehicle at all....not even with the most recent registration that was done in Feb of this year. He question me on this, not believing me. He was under the assumption that you had to smog the car within the first two or three years, and that I should have already smogged the car. I told him I was under the assumption, with new cars, that the first smog was at year five. He stated that a smog was a must, and that he wouldnt buy the car without it being done. The mechanic pointed us across the street to a Test only station. We drove over there, had the car smogged.

While standing there, I discussed the smog issue back and forth, then just went and asked the tech. He said that new cars are after year 6, hybrids, after year 12.

I've sold a couple of cars, but haven't smogged any of them recently. I did have to smog a 87 toyota when I sold it back in 93, and smogged my 95 s10 when I sold it in 01....but rules have changed since then, and it isn't up to the seller anymore, and I explained this to the buyer. He thought it was the sellers responsibility. I responded with my understanding, that either the seller or buyer could complete the smog, but it was usually decided upon prior to the sale of the car. I stated that I had no intentions of smogging the car until it was needed in 2010.

After being frustrated by the results, he asked if I would be willing to adjust the price more if he bought the car as it was. I explained that i couldn't make any more adjustments to the price, but that I would be willing to get him a stock cat.

Ghost had previously offered up his cat, which is basically my cat which I loaned to him as his cat was chopped to bits with his custom single exhaust that he had previously.

The other item of suspect was bad spark plugs....I thought that i could get him a new set of these as well if this would make the car sell.

He indicated that he has two cars that he is considering....so I asked him to call me back when he made up his mind, cause if my car was no longer on his interest list, I had no intentions of changing parts on the car, as things run fine, and I won't have to worry about smog until 2010, or until another buyer comes along, and then a discussion would be needed with that buyer, at that time.

I have received no calls, yet.

I just sent him that email with jakes info this evening though.

hmm... i guess as a buyer maybe he just wants the peace of mind that the car passes smog now, so that he doesn't inherit repair costs later when he is required to smog. not sure how much cats are for our car, but for german cars, they are very pricey...

Do you have the racing flash or the street flash from RB?

The racing flash won't pass smog.

Is it really the RP cat causing smog?

the other suggestion was bad spark plugs...which may very well be the case. We all know the story Jedi had about the dealership not changing spark plugs when they indicated that they had. Well, probably the same case with mine...they said they indicated they were changed at the recall...but who can really ensure, right?

And then the dyno numbers may have suggested continuing concerns with the spark plugs, as my dyno pulls were a little lower then some of the other guys.
