he he..... ok trouble starter.
there was no crash.
A spin or two at the autocross maybe, but no crash.

I will be removing the Sprint springs and installing Mazdaspeed springs. It will raise the car WAY up, but it should be a better spring for the autcocross. considering I only drive the car a couple times a month now, I might as well go with something that performs better. :/

Well, my car was a little relunctant to go down to the dealer this morning....she was like that relunctant 5 year old that doesn't want to go to the first day of kindergarten. The car has basically been sitting for a little over a month. I tried popping the clutch going down my driveway, but no luck...tried doing it by going down my street, again, no luck. So, I walked back up to the house and had to drive the truck down to jump it. Still, was tentative to start and it must have been flooded because it sent out a couple of dark smoke ***** out each exhaust tip upon initial start up. The car is down at the dealer, the service drive writer was surprised/shocked to hear I wasn't having to pay for any of the service today...that kinda made me grin (I didnt show my grin, but it made me all warm and fuzzy inside).... Should pick it up this afternoon. I will most likely need to buy a battery soon....the last battery I had that ran down at the drive in just never was able to recoup itself.

Xbox....I think I bought it in late December, early January...so it is only 3, 4 months old. Called and it is still under warranty and they are shipping me out a box so I can send it back to them for repair ir replacement. The only game I can play right now is Hexic HD, because that is loaded on the box and is not read from a game disk....sucks though. I downloaded some demos to keep me occupied....but I'm totally bummed about losing the chance to play the games that Cesar and I rented. Oh well.

Casey is going to swap out his springs...so he won't be slammed like he currently is....

Sprint, Mazdaspeed, autocross

Keith: I have my upgraded battery for my car still. (the one Mazda installs for the hard start / Flooded TSB) It's been sitting in the garage for a few months now since I switched over to an Optima Yellow Top. It's all yours if you want it. (free!)

you should give him your address, leave your garage unlocked and let him steal it.... so he feels like a rebel.

@kwescott
What kind of battery do you have?
I remember you had to replace the old one, but what did you replace it w/?

Re: Xbox - Did you buy it at Costco? If so, return it there and get a new one, faster than waiting for MS.

only problem with coilovers (regardless of company) is $$$$$$$$$.
Example:
-MS Springs: $320 (MSRP)
-MS Coilovers: $1850

Would love it, thanks. Maybe I could come down to the beach this weekend...or maybe I can order new coils and plug wires and you could assist me on that since you said there was a big learning curve on the install when you did Newcastle's and yours in the same day. Would love to get that done as well.

Cesar, I bought the "upgraded" autozone battery. If I went that route, I would get a refund on a portion of the battery. I forget the term that is used, but they basically give me back money on the warrantied battery life, that was not used.

Bought the Xbox at Best Buy...so I will be forced to use the MS shipping/wait policy. Good things though, they no longer require you to send your HD, or even your faceplate. Just the box, no wires, no frills. I assume they will send me a new box...this is what the customer service rep sort of led me to believe.

MS coilovers through the Mazdaspeed Racer Support Program is about the same price as the Tein Flex....about 1399.00 when I called...and this was before they were released and had actual pricing. The support rep said that they orginally were going to list upwards of 3 grand...and I said, why would I want to spend 3 grand on a product when the competition is half that price. He said Mazda would take that argument into account when determining final pricing...and that mazda was already aware of the difference between what they wanted to sell the coilovers for, and what they would actually sell them for.

I'll register with their site when I get home and subscribe to the thread. I'm gonna feel like such a traitor to my RX-8....

not too sure I am interested in having a multiple car meet/greet. we generally have more than enough cars to keep track of on our drives. Inviting more people invites more problems, and more attention on the drives.

Can others offer up their opinion on the subject.

poll, yay, nay, yes, no, agree, disagree

I'd prefer to keep it a Rotary only meet if possible. (Jessie is obviously the exception since he had an FC) Keith is right...this meet has plenty of cars in it already and it could lead to headaches down the road.
(LAX is a perfect example... last month some of the S2K guys were being ******)

i think it would be cool to see more evos and such - but I do forsee a problem with the drives. Evos handle differently and need to be driven differently so getting a whole bunch of cars that drive differently and trying to stay together through the canyons might get hairy. Yes? no?

One reason I stopped going to Malibu meets...I know I am speaking for myself, but I dislike multiple car meets because it turns into a competition rather than something for enjoyment. The Malibu meets started to get a lot of new faces, people that weren't willing to follow the rules as when that meet began, and it was just getting to be a big headache trying to get different groups to think alike. People have different reasons for going to meet/greets....

I also like the rotary only meets, you are still welcome though jesse. We get 15 cars sometimes can you imagine takeing 20 cars around the mountain.

There is an rx-8 owner in the rancho area that wants to set up meets but the only interest i can forsee us getting is if we set up a multi car meet. There is already a STI meet in the area and there are plenty of exotics if we can get them to come.

I tell you the best thing about our meet is there are no conflicts with anyone more or less, we all know each other and are the one of the few meets that actually go on cruises.

On a side note i signed up for the evo forum and never got approved to post anything. i wanted to guage intrest on my rims but maybe i should just work through you jesse.

^^^ +1
Why do you think I haven't been to Malibu in a long time...

The SB meet is by FAR my favorite meet for the following reasons:
1) We ALL share a passion for Rotaries.
2) Great People
3) The drives are for our enjoyment, not for any kind of competition
4) We're safe drivers. I trust you guys enough to drive through those canyons without the fear of getting rear ended.

From the link, coming from the evo forum who are your friends who ARE going to be trading their rx-8 for an evos (keith and Casey?)?

I prefer just rotaries and Jesse of course, even though he's only driven a rotary to about 30% of the meets in 3yrs.

If we start making it a rotary and evo meet, eventually someone will buy a WRX or worse, a Neon and want to invite their group too.

Then we'll be at a Neon/WRX/Evo/Rotary meet.

Also, like Keith said, I think it starts to turn into a competition/race instead of fun drives w/ friends.
