TL's are awesome cars.

 

so who IS going to the meet?

sounds to me that not many people are going???

Looks like I will not have the 8 back in time either

Also who is interested in going to the races I talked about? (Keith and Erica, I know youa re going)

 

i haven't driven the lexus IS350 yet. i was eye-balling an IS250. but, as my 323i awaits surgery i've been driving my mom's '06 TL to work. here are my thoughts.

pros:
- EXTREMELY comfortable car all-around.
(why don't the seats in my bmw feel like this?)
- very easy to drive- light steering, decent power, very smooth.
- EXCELLENT and intuitive navigation system.
(puts the mazda navi in the dog house for sure.)
- very roomy- lotsa headroom, lotsa back seat spacing, BIG trunk.
- AWESOME price - we got ours new, fully-loaded (except parking sensors) for
$35K out the door. Remember the TL is a "mid-size" car that competes with
the bmw 5-series. The Lexus IS350 and G35 are still compact class i believe.

cons:
- gas mileage is disappointing- about 20mpg in mix of city/ highway.
(maybe cuz it's an v6 automatic?)
- turning radius (due to rack & pinion steering) is REALLY lousy.
every u-turn u make is a white-knuckle experience. (can i make it, can i make it?)
- lotta blind spots - backing up is an eye-opening experience in this car without the
oem parking sensors.
- u see them everywhere- ie dime a dozen. but, that's the same for the G35 or
the Lexus as well. i must've seen half a dozen TL's on my commute this am.

overall, it's a NICE car. i definitely wouldn't say awesome- only because coming off a bmw, i really have to say that with the e46 line, bmw REALLY nailed down a near-perfect design. the bmw is not as comfy as the TL, but the difference is subjective. and, other aspects of the BMW are undeniably great. families will definitely like the extra room in the TL. and, for the price, you just can't get a better deal i think on a new car.

i plan on going... but, i don't think i can go to the race. (contractors coming to paint the house on sat and i need to check their work.)

races yes as long as I can talk Nino into it and the kids will be coming to

actually if it is a lexus it would be the ES350 but the best deal we've found so far is g35 sedan 2007 with 12kmiles for 28.....but Nino doesn't like the looks of it as much as his car now....lexus es300 (2000) did find a lease for the tl for 400/month.....I'm thinking he's just going to try to fix his car again......we've already replaced the tranny and a few other things and now there is a bad oil leak....and I'm not so sure about the engine.....


if money wasn't an issue.....wouldn't it be nice

hmm... well, since the majority of everyone can't make it, do u guys want to just postpone the meet this month then? i don't think i want to wake up early & drive all the way out to sb if we already know that it's going to be a small turn-out.

also- SSX is just two weeks away... i will hopefully be seeing most of u guys there?

 

With the meet being soooo small, and me not having my 8 back, I think I will just stay in bed and get some rest for the big race night ahead.

well, i guess no meet for me tomorrow then either. i hope i'll see u guys in 2 weeks at SSX? i want to try to go this year since i missed last year.

 

bummer after being off the thread for half a day i see all these posts no meet for me eiher, and i even got my bike ride in yesterday since i wouldnt be home and washed my car and... well i guess i will mow the lawn now and help keith if he needs it with the springs. That is 2 months in a row no meet for me. i guess i will have to do a mini photo op somewhere...and we tried so hard to go to the beach but nothing happened.

 

yah... well, at least we have SSX in 2 weeks. my car probably will look like crap, but i've never been to a SS event b4. so, i'd still like to go at least once.

so much for sleeping in also. the GC called at 8am and the door guy showed up at 8:30 to start shaving doors. guess, i'll try to catch a cat nap later today...

and, oh yah... lookie what i found online sadly, even if i traded in BOTH my cars, that's still less than half the price... <sigh> blue, red, and black look good.
