San Bernardino monthly Mazda meet and drive.
true... the last time i went to azusa/ gmr by myself on the yamaha i ran into a friend of a friend of the 626 rx-8 club at the gmr lookout point... so, i rode down gmr with him & his other 2 friends back to the 210 freeway. all 4 of us got lost still... <lol>
for the 8, i think i'm due for 12K maintenance soon. ive been doing maintenance at the intervals specified in the user manual...

the Vista you guys stop at on your bikes is the intersection of GMR and GRR just before the gate and the one lane road?

Loren: sorry I missed your previous post.
I do oil changes fairly religiously at 3,000 miles and the rest of the maintenance schedule that mazda uses is pretty good.
How many miles on your car now?

I wasnt worried so much about the oil changes but more like the 30k 60k etc.
My car has 58,900 miles. My wifes car (protege5) has had only minor maintenance (tires and oild) and it is at 109,000 miles right now so we neded up replacing the fan belt and timing belt and a tensioner ring. a motor mount is alos cracked and will need to be replaced soon. I was more worried about issues like that for the 8 and major upkeep.

the 8 doesn't really need major upkeep to be honest.
coils and plugs every 30-40k
transmission / differential every 50k or so
coolant flush every few years
the basic stuff.

by thee way jorge, for the calendar (yeah it is late) i dont have any good pictures of your car since the SS mods. think you can email me one? I think you have my email (user name).
thanks Rev.
Loren: let me try and find a few good ones and I'll send them over.
when are you hoping to have the calendar done by? I'd definitely be interested in one or two copies.

i think so... it's the "Look out spot" where the roads converge...
i was up there yesterday- went up the back side only to find out on the way down the front side that glendora pd shut down the road in both directions... !@@#$% had to go all the way back up, and then back down the back side.. scary as heck on 2 wheels, the incline, and all the dry mud... bad traction.

ooooh. no wonder. gosh, people really need to be more careful on GMR- period... bicyclists on GMR seem to be more reckless than the cars and motorcycles, from my own observation...
a month ago when i was up there, a girl on a road bike also lost control going downhill and crashed into the stone wall facing the cliff-side when she went wide on a turn. lucky for her, the wall was there and there were no cars going uphill- or she'd gone off the edge or also hit a car head on.
we stopped to help, and she wasn't hurt badly- just cracked her helmet, busted up bike, some scrapes, and she was very obviously in shock. her friend was already attending to her and called 911. (stupid move imo, because honestly she was ok. and, calling 911 just guaranteed that she'd get billed like $5K+ for the rescue from glendora PD/ Fire, no doubt.) the entire time she was on the road side she kept asking us to take a picture of her face to show so that she could see how badly the scrapes were on the side of her face///
women and their vanity... :shakeshead:
