San Bernardino monthly Mazda meet and drive.
the microphone on it seems to be broken. Everything on the phone works great but when I'm on a call, people can't hear me.
Been using my Jawbone headset a lot to get around that but figured I should finally call Verizon.
They're sending me a replacement.

A question for Cesar.
Is there a way to make a netbook work as my phone?
Do any of the services (spring, verizon) allow you to use their unlimited TALK/TEXT/ONLINE programs through one of these netbooks?
Obviously the bluetooth earpiece would be the only part you would carry with you. But I think it would be nice to have something more like a real computer rather than a BS smartphone.
Are their any services that would connect with a netbook?
So instead of carrying a brick of a phone that cant really surf the web and has a small screen, I want a laptop or notebook that I can add my phone service too.

you would need some sort of VOIP (Voice over IP) service. it's what that magicjack and also vonage do.
however, if you use your laptop or netbook for VOIP on the go, you would need one of those internet air cards provided by Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon first for internet capability. then you would need your VOIP software. When I used to work for EVGA, we used a program called Dterm which is made by NEC. It was a bit buggy and there were dropped calls from time to time, especially with low bandwidth, but it worked. also for some FYI, VOIP uses up a great deal of bandwidth which probably wouldn't work very well with an internet air card.

To make the netbook your phone, you need
1) Internet Connection - Need to pay for some sort of internet access on your netbook. (Data card from Sprint/Verizon or a phone that is tethered)
2) Some sort of VOIP service, (Magicjack, Skype, something similar)
3) Netbook has to be on all the time. (not sleep mode or hibernating)
Mine has a battery life of 5.5 hrs, but that would drop if it was constantly online.
4) You have to carry a netbook everywhere you go
What you should consider it this.
1) Buy a decent phone.
Doesn't have to be a smartphone, but make sure is has EVDO Rev.A capabilities. (EVDO Rev A is highspeed internet on your phone)
2) Get an unlimited data plan on your phone, so you can tether the phone to a netbook and surf the web.
In reality, what you need most of the time is a phone, not internet access.
I think carrying a netbook as a phone everywhere is not realistic.
Also, many people that have smartphones and use the internet get use to it pretty quickly.
I have 3 different browsers to choose from on my phone, and I can do anything on my phone's browser that the pc browser can do.
I even have Google Maps w/ Streetview.
I can watch Youtube videos.
I can post this message.
They really aren't that bad.
^^^ spend less time on the Verizon support hotline????
(i know i know.....I said I wouldn't post on here anymore since I no longer own an 8.....What can I say? I'm a woman - I lie!
