Okay, so i got my car back yesterday, and everything seems to be okay except for when i got her home, the fornt end of my car was abnormally hot... i mean... i put a couple drops of watter on the metal (under the hood) and it steamed right off. I dont know if that normal or not... but they fixed the body damage, and all that stuff...

they say the check engine light is turning on because of small gas leak from the vgas cap to the engine... some where alongthese lines, there is a microscopic leak that is causing the light to turn on... but i think trhey're lying to me >_<

now, i'm at 27 miles and the light hasnt turned on yet. the past 2 times, it turned on at aprox. 30 miles after picking it up from the dealership...
so, 3 more miles and i'll find out if the replacement gas cap solved the problem...

and yes, i will see you all at Zoom Zoom Live (If that bloody light doesnt turn back on)

question: does redbarron have a black rx8?

And, he no longer has that car as he traded it in on a CRX. He still posts on the forums, but is under a new name. He does indicate that he is "formerly known as Trigger" however. Just a small tidbit of somewhat useless information. :D

Krazie...it's funny how they think a small part like a gas cap will solve the problem. But it reminds me of when I had a 95 Chevy S10 which would "pop" out of 5th gear at freeway speeds. I would be driving at about 70 mph and the stick would just drop from 5th and go into nuetral. It made no noise, was subtle...and I rarely ever noticed it move, that is, until the big revs of freeway speeds in neutral. The dealership kept telling me it was my inability to get into 5th gear properly...and that none of the techs could ever get the truck to do what I said...of course they never drove it on the freeway...anyways, to make a long story short, they kept replacing stupid little parts like the carpet around the shift boot, and then changed the stock hard plastic shift boot, with a flimsy soft boot off a Cavalier, before they finally replaced the entire transmission. Sorry to bore you guys, but felt like sharing .

Ryse millin drives the yellow GTO drift car (and of course is world famous for his world championships in rally and other racing) Steve millin is Rod millins brother (i belive) which is better know as STILLIN. Stillin makes many many Nissan parts.

Well, we can do it next week, since I won't be home this weekend. I'll call you when I'm leaving Palm Springs to let give you an idea what time I will be at home to get my car and then leave for ZoomZoom.

BTW - I saw you mentioned magnets to Scotty, I meant to ask you if you're going to put a #32 on your car for Sept 11th.
I got #33, and was trying to find a good price on magnetic sheets to make the number. Any suggestions where to get them?

kwescott, i was wondering what the mabliu runs are like compared to our runs in the IE. I see there is one coming up on Sept 4th. I am slightly worried about the recall before I go on any strenious runs?

I'm glad you mentioned the recall.
I was just coming here to post the latest info and I saw that you're thinking about it too.

Here's the Letter from Mazda.

Here's the Service Bulletin that states which VIN #'s are affected.
If you read the service bulletin, it seems like something you can do yourself to check if it's a problem.

*******************************
B. REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Check the cast numbers on the under side of both front lower arms.
• If the either of the front lower arms have the combination of both K4 and (diamond) 1 as shown, go to
step 3.
• If the front lower arms DO NOT have the combination of K4 and (diamond) 1, lower vehicle and return
vehicle to inventory or customer.
*******************************

I'm not sure, but I will take a look at it this weekend.
The service bulletin shows picture's and more details.

For those who don't want to do any extra reading, here's the VIN#'s affected.

2004 RX-8 vehicles with VIN range JM1 FE17** 40 100053 – 129716 built from April 23, 2003 through December 27, 2003

I definitely need to check this before the next run and the Solo2 event on the 11th.

zoom-zoom i am scheduled for saturday morning but since everybody else is going saturday afternoon(?) i might as well too. especially since there will only be a few mazda cars there compared to all the GMs, maybe the lines will not be as long.

As far as teh ball-joint recall i dont think my car is effected, but someone might want to confirm for me vin: JM1FE173640138052
