whoa Keith, you're quick... I just edited the above post with some stuff at the bottom. Unfortunately this weekend is no good for me because I'm becoming the godfather to a friend of mine's son so I'll be busy with that on Saturday and I've got a few things already planned for Sunday. I'm free the following weekend if you want. That should give us plenty of time for the Zaino kit to arrive and get others to clear their schedules.

well my thought is we have the party closer to sevenstock, this is the main purpose for the cleaning and second of all i am gone all weekend i would like to particpate. I would like to use the zaino stuff but if it is cheaper and similar to use the above mentioned aftermarket zwax then i will do that.

Keith and Cesar: You two are ordering this Zaino kit at the perfect time!! Zaino recently introduced a new formula for their Z5 and it's WAY better then the old stuff. (Z5 is intended for darker colored cars to help better conceal the small swirl marks that build up over time) Keith, I think the goal for your car is going to be at least 2 coats of the Z5. Cesar, yours might be okay with 1 coat or we could go for 2 if you want. Z5 is not as "shiny" as the Z2 so we need to plan for that so the last coat we put on is always Z2.
Oh, speaking of shiney....I'll bring a little surprise for you guys to help shine your cars up at the end.

i am sure ericas car is doing better then ours becasue of the color, darker cars shwo teh marks much easyier. I sure can see heo jedi made a multi page thread just on zaino, look what he did to our section in a after noon.

Lesper: You're right about doing all this for SS9 but some cars are going to need a little more work then others so we should probably start working on that soon. SS9 is only 5 weeks away! Not sure if my new mod will be ready by then... The beauty of Zaino is that it lasts quite a while so the shine will still look really good by SS9. The detailing spray helps maintain the shine so a few quick sprays right before SS9 and your RX-8 will look good as new.

Lesper: yeah, Erica's car is going to look nicer for much longer because of the light colored paint. (SSOOOO jealous) LOL@ the zaino thread remark. I just brought up a suggestion, you guys are the ones fueling this fire... I don't mind helping some friends out though, should be fun.

 

But then again, I use the same car washing method on her car as mine...so it may be time to incorporate some new methods.

hmm... not to question authority. (kekekeke) but, the next meet is october 14th, and SS9 is october 28... if u guys wash cars next weekend, will they still be clean 28 days later? or r u guys going to zaino again right b4 SS9

 

they'll be pretty dirty by SS9 so they'll just need a wash and to spray on some quick detailing spray and they'll be all shiny again! Zaino should last them at least 2 months with what we're doing.

ok i am going to say it, i was my car at those high power do it yourself touch free car washes. i dont usually use the brush but the sprayer instead. i plan on washing my car before the party, so far the 30th sounds ok and then i guess i will do the spot free rinse later before SS.

 

are you planning on washing it that morning? Just pick up a nice wash mit somewhere and you can wash it at Keith's house that way you know there's very little dust on your car before you start waxing.

 

You've seen my car, right Gerry...you know I need desperate intervention. I fixed the dents. I'm arranging to buy a set of mirrors from another rx8 member to get rid of my drivers side one that rattles like crazy....the last thing on my short list of maintenance items, is a Zaino trip. We must all prepare for SS9 in our own ways. I'm hoping that my taillights are a one of a kind. I've seen some smoked/balcked out lights....but I hope to be the only one with "red" out lights.

 

Keith: that should be pretty original at SS9. hopefully the parking lot will allow easy access to the rear of the cars so people can see it. My mod will need access to the back of my car also...keeping my fingers crossed.
