I'm out of town for the month. I have a friend staying at my house and was wondering if I should have her drive my car. It's already been over a week. Last time I didn't drive my car for a month it didn't start. I had it towed, and the starter and spark plugs were replace. I don't want to come home to a car that won't start again, but she's a bit nervous to drive it. Maybe just to the store but I always gun it to over 6000 rpms and I'm not sure how she'd feel about this. Anyway, should I have her drive it or should it start after a month of no driving since the starter and spark plugs were replaced?
And didn't anyone take pictures of your meet? I wanna see!

Many 8's have had their starter/spark plug/battery replaced.
Here's the Service Bulletin on that.

If your car doesn't start this time, it's because of the battery.
The battery that comes with the car is not that great, and once you drain it, it will continue to give you problems.
I would take Detrich's suggestion. Have your friend start the car and let it idle for about 20mins twice a week.
BTW - There is a charger called a Trickle Charger. They use them for RVs/ATVs/boats or anything that will be parked for an extended time.
They cost about $20. You can connect it to your battery and it will keep it at 12v.
I know a couple of people that use these all the time, and we resently started using one for my dad's porsche.

that might be a little much, I have let my car site with and without the new battery for well over a week with no problems. I think once a week or once every 2 weeks will be fine.
to be honest with a new battery once every three or four weeks should be fine, but I saw 2 just for the fun of it.

Both of our 8's started up just fine when we returned from our 3 weeks in China last summer. You shouldn't have a problem.....
Jessie, that tatoo is sick...made me sick to my stomache. Good work though.

was planning on taking a whole bunch of photos, but all 10 of my batteries were dead. I recharged them weeks ago, but I guess the sun drained them all.
Did get a chance to take some pics of Michael's mod.

Thanks KK for the offer but I think after reading peoples comments I'll just have my friend turn the car on and let it run for a bit.
2 8's Michael? Nice looking doors.
Vipers I'm looking foward to seeing your rims on your car. I think it's going to look awesome.
Detrich, glad to hear you got your car fixed. Sure hope that doesn't happen to mine on any of the runs. I don't remember running over anything that cruz that would have chipped paint.

yeah I'll give him a call. I feel bad, I just simply have not had the time to do it. wedding is getting close, tieing up loose ends. things are getting a little more crazy. lots to do.
anyways, yeah I'll call him.
so what should we do for the next meet? it is the saturday after the wedding, so I think we will have to change the date. weekend before would be almost impossible, weekend after would be hard but I think posible (leaving for Hawii that monday).

I'm up for anything. Looks like the best option is the 3rd week. I may not be able to make it on the 3rd week because I hope to do a autox practice day.
If we get enough people at the practice day, we can do a bbq/autox party in the parking lot. That would be a good switch from the regular runs.

Here's an idea....the LAST Malibu run will be August 5th. Erica and I will be driving seperately to this one....as it is the last time we will be going out that way. It is definately something yuou should do once...whether it be driving, or as passenger. Great group, great run, great scenery, and great spot for lunch. Oh, did I mention it is great....

I think it would be fun for ALL of us San Berdo guys to go.
we can make the AUG meet a malibu meet. (all meet out here someplace and caravan out there)
sound like a good idea???
I know this makes me sound like a hipocrit (spelling) but I would of course have to make sure we are not doing anything that weekend. getting close to the wekking and we are getting rather busy tiing up loose ends. I would assume it will be pretty nuts by then.... but then again maybe we will be all done by then to. ??? none the less I think it would be a fun meet and a fun last time Malibu meet with a lot of cars.
