wind, I was watching the news this morning about last night. We had sustained winds of 35-40 mph, with gusts up to 75mph last night in my neck of the woods. Had to take some stuff off the walls last night, since the wind was actually picking up the house like an earthquake. I am so lucky it is a one story tucked behind a two story..otherwise, I can imagine I would have been up all night watching the double paned windows bulge to the point of popping. As it was, I was nervous about the patio staying up.

What makes this all funny to me, was that Erica and I watched our neighbor get up on his second story roof to remove his Christmas lights. Too bad he waited so long, but if he had waited another hour or so, I'm sure the lights would have been pulled down all on their own.

Damn fricken wind.

I am glad I have a garage.

The wind showed up in OC yesterday around halftime of the Steelers game (GO STEELERS!!) I was in between coats of zaino at the time and just decided to call it a day. (too much dust being kicked up).
On a side note: I finally got to test out the Mazda car cover I got for Christmas. DAMN that thing fits TIGHT! (i know everyone said it was pretty snug but...damn)

Funny you should mention 2 story houses...Mine was swaying back and forth last night. It was creepy to hear twigs and things hitting the skylights I have upstairs (2 in the hallway, 2 in the guest bath). Talk about keeping me up last night.

LUCKILY, I decided not to drive my RX-8 today because I pulled into the office and what do I find in my normal parking spot?? A HUGE *** tree branch covering up 4 parking spots! That would not have been pretty...

KK, please tell me this is not normal for this area!!! It got so bad here, at one point we actually pulled the pony inside the house.... And you thought hay in the car was bad....it's a story. I'll tell it at the next meet if anyone is interested why i was sitting in a room in the dark holding the lead rope of a pony for 45 mins. That's even crazier then I thought I'd ever be! I need my barn now!!!

No requirments to become a member, just go to www.scca.com and you can get all the stuff you need to sign up. Or you can do it at an event. Being an SCCA member gets you the discount on entry fees at Cal Club and SD events. If you are an SCCA member you also get SportsCar magazine for free. To get into a practice in SD you still need a points card, like $30.00 for the year. Cal Club you dont need anything to get into a practice, except to beat the other 150 people going for the 80 spots.

sorry to say, this is normal for this time of the year. We even get a notice from the trash collection company about not putting your trash cans out for collections during "heavy" Santa Ana conditions. They highlighted "heavy", because we constantly have wind, just some days our trashcans never come back...

I'm getting rather upset with the winds...it took the entire weekend away, starting at around 2:00 Saturday afternoon. Our neighbors just on the other side actually moved back to the OC because of the wind. Your stuck inside the whole time, as you can't drive on the freeways or go somewhere close, in fear of debris hitting your, a semi falling over and collapsing the freeways.

Last year at Victoria Gardens, they lost the top off of their enormous Christmas tree because of the winds.

It is usually really bad from October to February, then it relaxes quite a bit, and is only a slight breeze in the evenings. Summers are usually quite calm. Welcome to the "pass"...the wind is actually coming through the Cajon Pass...and is much worse the further up the hill you go....just talk to Spice Boy about his wind.

Waaaahh I just had to fight the trecherous 2 hour drive from San Diego to Rancho Cuca just now...
It's hell out there.
Tumbleweeds all over the freeway, dust and sand flying all over the place....
I even saw a few trucks having a hard time! Wind is currently blowing west and I was going north... so alot of the trucks were actually being shoved to the left.
Scary.... I didn't know it was going to be THIS bad!

they have two track mirror imaged of each other. two cars run at a time. are we interested. if so, I am guessing we need to send in the checks today!

80 entrys, $50 to run.
Well, I came to post this info too.
My check is already at the post office. I'm crossing my fingers hoping to get in, but if it's been open for a couple days, probably not.
Although, Sunday there was no mail delivery, so anyone who sent it yesterday, is also in the same boat as me.

Am I the only one who enjoys driving in the wind?
I just heard that the is a Big Rig overturned at the 15/215 interchange, another at 15 & Sierra, and another at 15 & Foothill.
The score is
Wind = 3
Trucks = 0

And there's a fire at 15 & Summit.

OMG The sky is falling!!!

Are any of the IE guys going this Sunday to Qualcomm. I think it would be fun to go down. Looks like we can register there, and pay the 30 bucks to get the points cards...and maybe even compete....?

Is this right Jason?

I'm fricken clueless on the classes though. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to take off my intake and put the stock back on, and to do the same for the shifter. I checked out that thread you posted about the Solo2 event this sunday (29th) and there looked to be like fifty classes.

Yeah you can show up Sun AM and register and buy a card. That will also make it so you can get into practice events the rest of the year down there.

For the most part you are screwed on classes.... Your body work means you are in STU if you run street tires and SM if you run race tires. So leave the rest of your bling on and just have fun.

If the only illegal stuff you have is a bodykit, intake, and shifter... I personally wouldn't mind if you ran in BS. I'm pretty sure others wouldn't mind either, but I'm not sure... all depends if you will beat them or not.

BTW, my name is Jason too... I guess you could refer to me as the "slow jason".

By body work you mean the MS body kit? So adding weight to the car actually raises your class...interesting.

Lets imagine STU then...what else can I get away with then. Intake is fine, short shifter is fine I would assume for STU. Adjustable coilovers (since I'm planning on doing something like the Tein Flex)....I read somewhere where it can not be adjustable out on course...if this is correct, I would want to stay away from the EDFC, correct? Or are you still limited to springs and no changes to struts/shocks....What about sways. In STU you can do both front and rear...what about strut bars.

I'm sorry, if there is an actuall listing somewhere, that you the link for, it would be probably easier to put that up instead of me going on and on about "what about"..."what about"....

Nice to know we have so many Jasons

I have the stock intake and shifter, and it wouldn't be that big a pain to do the switches on "race day"...I already have to switch my tires...so why not. But then again, I do understand the whole issue of being stock....my body kit is definately not stock, but it definately is not an advantage.

I'm wondering what body parts are allowed in BS then...what about the other appearance package items...like the front lip, rear aeros, mudflaps and so on.....?
