On the 12th, we will be competing in an autocross event (not practice day). So plan your weekends accordingly We still have two slots open for photo crew, 1 slot open for doughnut runner, and one slot open for compliments giver. Thanks goes to Meshell for already volunteering for the window washer slot.

You know you picked the wrong person for the window washing right??? But thats ok because I'm not going to be driving and I don't get to do ride along. So opps your bad

Ok, here's the deal...

No SCCA membership required to drive any events, but it does give you a discount.

San Diego requires a SDR card to run practices and champs.

CalClub doesn't require anything. A points card will give you a discount to champs (same as SCCA) and give you your own number for the year, but both fast Jason and I don't have points cards. You can just show up and register the day of the event and get a temp number.

Only thing that'll help you get into CalClub pratices is mailing your check the day they post the info.

thanks for the info...it will make the day much cheaper for me now ...now I just got to find someone to go down there with me on Sunday.

Should I bring the number plates that Casey made for us, or is there a regulation on how big they should be, or what number is on them for the champ days. I'm sure SD and Calclub are similar on practice days, numbers don't really matter.

Meshell, I just like posting little things here and there to see how close people are reading these things. Thought I could get away with one...

When you get your SDR card, you will have to pick a number that is available and you'll have that number for the rest of the year. You might get lucky and be able to get the one on your number plate, but I wouldn't count on it. The number is important as it's how they idenfity who you are when you run.

There is a regulation on the size, but as long as they can be clearly read from a distance they should be ok for local events. I'll look up the official specs later...

I belive Jason told me 8" last time.

I sent in my payment last week for the Cal Club points card as I plan to run as many of those as I can. as long as I do 3 events I get my money back. more is just a savings.

got the new tires in yesterday...... SWEET!

Jason you were not kidding, the differance between the mounted and unmounted tires is huge! once mounted they are not nearly as wide and unmounted (on the stock 8" wide wheel)

well, I think we have five number plates made already...so we may be able to get one of those, even if it's not the number that I actually made for myself. I doubt my number (31) is available...I saw a Suby at the last practice event from Team Blew that had that number.

So, I would assume that once you get a number, that it is pretty safe to assume that you can keep it from year to year as long as you re-register.

Thanks for checking on the regs. Fast Jason actually made a comment at the last practice that our number plates may be too small.

3.7 VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION
A. All vehicles must display numbers and class letters on both
sides, which must be readable by Timing & Scoring, Course, and
Grid workers at all times.
B. Only one set of numbers and class letters may be visible while
the vehicle is running.
C. Class shall be represented by the upper-case abbreviated form
rather than be spelled out. Ladies’ classes shall be indicated by
the letter “L” following the class letters. (Example: “BSPL” instead
of “B Street Prepared Ladies”).
D. Numbers and class letters should be positioned next to each
other. All letters and numbers must be on body panels, not on windows.
All numbers and class letters must use the same
typeface and the same color, and this color must provide adequate
contrast to the background color (see Appendix F for
examples).
E. Numbers must be a minimum of 8" high with a 1.25" stroke.
Class letters must be a minimum of 4" high with a 0.75" stroke.
In all cases, the height of the class letters must be between 25%
and 75% of the height of the numbers. Stroke width must be at
least 10% of the height. (See Appendix F.)
F. The “1” on two-driver cars and the “L” on Ladies class cars are
subject to all of the above requirements with regard to placement,
color, size, and stroke.
G. Karts may use numbers and class letters of reduced size provided
that the following conditions are met: 1) Numbers must be
displayed on the front and rear in addition to both sides; 2) Class
letters must be on both sides; 3) In no case may the numbers be
smaller than 6" in height with ¾” stroke, using a high-contrast
color and background.
H. For National Championship, National Tour, and Divisional
competition, current official SCCA required decals must be
displayed on each side of the vehicle in a prominent location.
For Divisional, Tour, and National Championship events, one
official SCCA approved National sponsor identification logo
must be displayed in an upright position, in a prominent location
on each side of the vehicle. Further information is contained in
Appendix F.

For further rules info, please consult the official rule book: http://www.scca.org/_filelibrary/Fil...solo_rules.pdf

Looks like we get to make some new number plates Casey. Wow, got to include the vehicle class on the plates as well....going to be a busy plate. Probably have to move the Mazdaspeed logo off it we're going to be able to fit everything, or, maybe get bigger magnets?

They'll have tape-on paper numbers available at the event if you need them...

yah, we'll have to do that for the first event..and then we'll have our numbers and car class information to go through another round of making number plates. Maybe we can sell our others to other SB guys that may want to come out for a practice event in the future...

i'll look when I get home, but I am pretty sure as long as we remove the Mazdaspeed, they CAN be up to spec.
I have also seen people make a second magnetic plate (much smaller) right noext to their main number plate for the class they are running.

OK, made up my mind. It was hard to make a decision since no one else is really going to go down to San Diego with me, but I'm gonna go on Sunday. I'm hoping that someone will decide to go down, maybe even compete with me....but I figure, I need to get some practice in, and see how the real events unfold. Looks like I will be forced into STU class, which means I would be in the 2nd run group. Pretty early in the morning if anyone was interested in going down to take pics for me.

Malibu is tomorrow, Saturday. Looks like Xrider01, Lesper4 and Jedi54 are going. Snowfl8k will be going with me, and I'm hoping (with the offer of putting my rims on her ride), that she will be driving tomorrow. But, we'll have to see.

Anyways, that an update from my spot....

yes....i am going. i could actually go and compete w/you kwescott, but ATM i'm in a tight spot. realistically i shouldn't even go to malibu, but i've already comitted myself to it and i don't know if i'll ever get a chance to do so again. so that's why i'm going.

And maybe make the numbers differentyer...depending on what numbers are available. I'm shooting for 31 STU...but we'll see. Wish me luck. Just got back from Malibu and off to bed so we can wake up early for the autoX in San Diego.

alright, got my SD number...138 STU...and got to see what the competition is like in STU. They are fast, but I think the combo of MR and Mrs Isley, along with "slow Jason" makes BS nearly impossible to be close. My top scratch time from today was 82 seconds. I think Isley's were running in the 74's...or 76's, can't remember.

Erica was great to take pics for us...even though her back was killing her. Here's some shots from today. Thanks again Erica.

Nice to meet you guys. Both Isleys ran 74.6. I was the one in the 76's. I'm pretty sure I had a 75 in me (ran a 76.1 with passenger in X runs), but 74s might be tough.

Hope to see some pics of my car.
