Dash kit was installed this morning. Finally, after five days of looking at it in the house, we had some time to devote to the installation. Pics are in the multimedia section.....lets see how long this one stays open...

well, (knock on wood) my car sat in the driveway all weekend while we were in Vegas, so nothing happend to it..... although i must admit that I am suprised that the moon did not fall on it.
so lets just hope it stays that way.

I think you guys are too paranoid about that accident thing.
I drove to San Diego twice, 110 miles each way, this weekend.
BTW - The novice school was awesome.
Saturday was a chalk talk. Covering basic principles, concepts, and safety.
Sunday was a blast.
We were all assigned to an instructor. I was with Jason Isley.
Learned a lot, like how much better Jason can drive my car.
Hopefully the lessons were enough so that I can spank
speeddemon at the next practice in January.

Kwescott, Yes.
Cesar, it' nice to see that you had a good time! but you can't spank me.
he he he, just kidding, with Jason's help I am more then sure you will smoke me at the next auto cross.
then again maybe my wing will hold me to the ground better so I can take turns faster... and the extra 100 H.P. the intake gave me would be tough to beat!
Edit:
Krazie, it's an update firmware disk... after loaded the map disk is reinserted.

Speedy,
Do Jorge & I need to get the navi update too? (Both '05's delivered this past summer). and, what benefits do the new firmware have etc? What does the dealer charge for this? Sorry for asking again, if you guys already went over this...
Thanks,
Gerry

Oh oh , pick me, pick me!!!
Gerry: When you start up your car, do you get a Mazda logo on the Navigation or a Navtech logo?
If you get the Mazda (which I belive you should) then you do not need the firmware update.
I guess the old versions werent very good at looking up P.O.I., and they froze up so that's why the updated the firmware. AND the old firmware couldn't read the new map discs.
What we need to get our hands on is the MAP update! My navigation has gotten me lost a few times now and it's starting to get annoying. I really don't want to cough up $159 for it though, I already paid $2,000 .

Detrich, from what was talked about when Speed first got the new disk, I think about 3 months ago, it doesn't change much. The maps are not updated, just a couple of small issues. Mazda logo at startup, some changes in how the interface works...how you get the destinations inputted, some changes in vocabulary...nothing much.

no problem....
you dont HAVE to have the update.
if you nav system tells you to "enter highway 10" (stuff like that) and displays a Mazda symbol when you turn on the car, then you do not need the update.
If you have the older system that displays the Nevtech logo when the car is turned on, and only says "enter highway" then you have the old system and you could use the update.
of course I am sure it does more then just these two changes, but thats all I can think of off the top of my head..... I have not really used it since I did the update. I am sure when I use it again, i will notice more differances.
If I can remember, I will try to bring it with me to the Jan meet at California speedway.
(like how I inserted a reminder that our next meet is at california speedway for the autocross, rather then our normal meet, and I did it so smooth and sly!).... (look I did it again)

EDIT:
I see I was to slow on the post.... two posted while I was typing.
sooo...... yeah what they said.

then yes, you already have the updated NAV.
see my car has a build date of June 03..... so yeah I had the old Navi system. (my car sat on the lot for a long long time, I think it was a show room car since it sat there for so long. I have only owned it for a year now.
