I've got some experience with the stuff.
You'll need a good hair dryer and something to "roll" the stuff on there with. (some cheap roller from Home Depot will do the trick) OR, worst case scenario just use a baseball to roll it on with. (your palms will hurt by the time you're done though)

Well I was hoping for a Mazdaspeed 8 with more power to come out but from what it looks like I don't think its going to happen. So right now I'm thinking of either a 2001 Z06 or a Single Turbo FD. I love the 8 design and handling wise but I just can't keep up with my friends with sti's, evo's and high hp supra's.

Anyways here's a picture of a ferrari 355 I washed after I did a full detail on his Caddy. The cool part was he let me start it and drive it out, it was AMAZING. It had the F1 transmission which was really neat. He also had a Ferrari 308 but didn't get to see it. Monday I'm detailing a 05 Porsche GT3 which should be fun.

hey jun...

y don't u wait for the new supra to come out this fall? that thing looks really cool and will haul some serious ***... i think i might even be tempted by it. <LOL> well, we'll see. my goal is to first have the 8 paid off by year end.

but, yah. it's a shame that mazda did not have the foresight and vision to design the 8 with some longevity so that it could at least keep pace with the other sports cars out there. (being able to beat a miata or eclipse ain't exactly too glorifying.) it's really frustrating- esp on such an awesome car w/ an engine with such a cool history. i mean, if they would've given it just 300hp even, it would probably not get so outdated so fast, esp with the new crop of japanese sports cars coming out. even my co-worker's 06 mustang v8 hauls some serious ***, and that thing was like only $26k otd i think. the ugliest interior u've ever seen, but boy, does it does hauls ***.

am sorry to hear that u'll be leaving us, and yah- hope we get at least one malibu cruise in b4 then.

you're right. it would be nice if the MS version of the 8 came w/more power. either a 20B engine a super or turbo coming stock with the car.

If you are worry about passing emisions then forget about the single turbo FD. The Z06 is a great performer out of the box. It also is upgrade friendly. I just hate the interior. It's out dated like most domestic cars. How ever, have you consider a NSX? Reliable, good gas milage (compare to the other 2), and awesome aftermarket support. Look into 94+ though.

Yeah I just started my own buisness about a month ago and its going really well.
I'll get some more pics up when I get my camera back... As for the new supra I really like it but is it official its going into production? If so I would get it but I just think the pictures floating around are just the concept. The nsx is a nice car but i just don't like it. Too bland for my taste, I think the FD is alot sexier and has more potential.

I agree with you there a 100% . just get a stock one if you never had one before. I will make headaches go away a lot easier when modding it.

true. but the FD looks dated already. the black outlined tail-lights and flip-up head-lights are SO 80's. it's 2007 in 6th months! unless they bring back the 7 in a big and the RIGHT way, which it doesn't seem likely, i don't think the future for the rotary line is shining too bright right now- mainly because of all the new offerings coming out from Japan AND Germany are going to HAUL MAJOR F'G ***. poor us

Have you ever owned a FD? I don't mean this by insult. It is just hard to understand owning one if you haven't. Yeah the flip up head lights are a bit old but there are fixes for that like my favorite

or you can just choose the sleek headlight kit . The tail lights IMO is one of the best aspect of that car.

I still believe that FD's are still one of the best looking cars. I've detailed 3 Ferrari's and all the owners started talking about the 3rd gen 7. They all said its one of the best looking car that a japanese auto comp has come out with and how it was way ahead of its time. I don't think the FD will ever be outdated, its becoming sort of a collectors car and the prices on FD's are going up. There was a thread on rx7club that the value of fd went up $4000 on kbb.

Hey isn't that fumanchu's car?

Yup it went up $2-4k

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.ph...ht=collectable

In road and track the fd was named as one of the 10 most collectable cars.

i thought the last generation supra looked really nice too when it came out.

well, i think that we can all amiably agree to have just a slightly different point of view on this subject. after all, beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder. and, honestly, i REALLY do like the way the FD looked when it came out. at that time (early 90's), it was really a head-turner, and there was truly nothing else on the road like it. but, the early 90's debuted a lot of very innovative designs, such as the NSX, the FD, the nissan 300z etc. so the FD wasn't the sole japanese important to seriously turn some heads.

but, times do change, and with it some design features begin to look a bit dated as well- for the lack of a better description. just as satin disco pants and polyester suits went out of fashion with the 70's, and double-breasted suit jackets went out of fashion in the mid/ late 90's, for the lack of a better analogy (lol), some design features on cars have gone out of fashion as well. (ie, flip up headlights etc.) it's not to say those designs don't look good anymore or are not good- only that they are no longer a "contemporary" look, i suppose.

all-in-all tho, i agree with you guys. the FD was a truly remarkable & beautiful car for it's time.

this would be a good choice if he was looking for a good looking well balanced car, but thats not what he's looking for, he needs something with pickup, which the nsx doesnt have, the nsx is much like the rx8, its a well balanced good handling sportscar but it doesnt have the big numbers that he wants to keep up with his high HP buddies, he might as well keep his 8 instead of getting an NSX. although there are a few twin turbo kits out there making some big numbers.... haha too expensive and tricky though...

i think a lot of car designers and car enthusiasts in general will have to completely disagree with you, the FD is one of THE most timeless classic sportscar designs there are, ask any reputable magazine editor and ive talked to ACTUAL CAR DESIGNERS who say the third gen rx7 on thier opinions on the rx7s aesthetics and they all say the same thing. ive read repeatedly the car might as well be a 2006 model aside from the flip up headlights(which can be fixed) and i havent met ONE non car enthusiast who doesnt think the car is mroe than a few years old(obviously anybody who knows about cars knows that the car stopped production forever ago) aesthetics are completely subjective though haha so everyone has thier own opinions...

...yes...thats muffmuncher's car...

and for Xped, i would say go with the z06!!!!!! its an awesome car! one of the VERY few american made cars i commend, it has excellent balance and handling and a shitload of torque. you've already had an FD, go try something different and come back if you miss rotarys that much...but i have a suspicion you might, usually the rotorheads are rotorheads for life, especially considering your background of an FD, rx8 and your dad's rx7. anyways good luck on your sale or whatever you'll do with your rx8, make sure to stop by every so often here, dont be a stranger!

The FD is a nice little classic - 20 years from now it will be as dated as one of those red and white Chevys, but it will still be something people will like to look at. Corvetts also have style - but with the recalls, break problems. etc. you really don't want to own one right now.
The local Central Coast people are having the annual Cruise in Paso Robles right now, anything goes, they fill up the Park in the center of town with everything from super antiques to currents with modifications - I don't think anything out there today had the class of the RX-8, but for a 'modern', unmodified sports car the FD stood out.

Wish you Malibu types could wander on down the Coast and give us some company!

Everything sounds good and dandy but i thought you were getting id of the 8 because of gas, all these other cars guzzle gas except for the nsx and the lexus. and i agree the best part about the FD's are the rear end.

If you get a FD and it is completly stock, keep all the stock parts. If you ever wanted to sell it,put it back to stock. Then can pretty much get every penny out of it that you put into it. I know I did.
