rather not say at this point. It all depends on how far upside down I end up after the sale. I hope to keep as many of my parts as possible, transferring them over to the snowfl8k so that we can continue to autocross with the white one. It has less than 20,000 miles and the payments are lower given it is the base model.

The whole issue here is monthly expenses, and the cost of keeping cars. If I end up going too far upside down on the 8, then it would not be worth getting rid of. I mean, whats the point of paying 600 bucks a month on the RX8....selling it to only get a cheap car like a Corolla or Civic and end up paying something rediculous like 500 bucks (rolling over the amount owed on the 8 in the new loan)...so, time will tell.
I can't imagine that the market is demanding for used RX8's.

The resale value of 8's seriously blow. I may just put it up for sale now cause its prob going to take forever to sell. I really want a 3 rotor fd, so I may just buy a pos car for around $2k and drive that till a another 3 rotor is up on the market. If not I was contemplated on getting the z06 but my dad said if I get that he won't help pay as he's not really into american cars. He wants me to get a 02-04 M3 which I don't mind. There really isn't too many cars on the market that I really like.
It seems like everbody is selling their eights...

dang hah cant believe how quick people are getting rid of their 8s, its an 04 car and its only 06 haha i guess im one of the few planning on staying in the game for at least around 10 years or so, heheh. cars come and go but classics like this are here to stay in my opinion. i'll definately keep my FD as long as i can as well. not a fanboy or anything just would like to keep a rotor around no matter what else im driving

It becomes a never ending cycle in which they end up losing money on the car every time.
yep... it's more worthwhile to lease if u'd like to be able to opt out after a few years...
speaking of putting $ into the car, looks like i might be repainting my entire front end and possible part of the hood as well. this last cruise really riddled the **** out of my front end, beyond. this has never happened before, so it's really bumming me out... (barely have 2300 miles on my 8.) but, oh well... going to try the langka thing, but there are so many dots that i don't even know where to begin. am prolly going to start getting some estimates this week...

Why else would i buy such a beautiful and nice handling car. i couldnt of bought a honda if i wasnt going to keep it long. people spend LOTS of money and lose LOTS of money, sometimes they spend 40k on their showcars and whatnot and make maybe 5k of it back if that because they resell it THE DAY they finish it sometimes. and they know they are losing an insane amount of money every time they do it, but they think of it as an expenditure for fun because some people enjoy the build up of project cars as a hobby, even more so than the finished project so they sell the finished project so they can have another project

hey now.....
Deitrich, I guess we worry about different things. I drive my car over 25K a year, all freeway...that can do some damage to a front bumper. Check it out at one of the next meets, not pretty. If your willing to repaint it at 2300 miles, be willing to doi that every time you reach that amount of mileage, or everytime you decide to go on a cruise.
One benefit of leading the pack, is no rocks
For me, I hate door dings and dents....oh, and those damn rock trucks that end up putting those nice little stars in your windsheild....that really pisses me off.

thanks for the feedback keith. yep... well, i never got serious rock chips at the other meets, so it was kind of a shock. out of all the ones i got this time, there is really only one that's really bugging me- mainly because it's in SUCH a noticeable spot. even after touching up it looks like blob the size of a thumb tack and i hate it... <LOL>
i got a 2 quotes already today- both for around $350 to repaint the entire hood- cuz none of the body shops i talked to are willing to do just "touch-up" work. but, repainting the entire things seems like such overkill... in the meantime, i ordered an rx-8 nose mask from alhambra mazda today for $108, and it should get here in 3 days. so, at least for next month's meet i'll have some freaking body armor, baby!
actually, considering all the mods u guys do, $350 really is not that much, by comparison. but, i'm still very torn. "to paint or not to paint," that is the question of the week... hehehehe (i'm actually crying on the inside.)
