BTW, I finally sorted out my idle issues... had two injector wires switched. They were the blue (lavinder) colored ones. Had to peel back the black cover to see the real ( nonfaded) color.

 

I'm down, Anthony is too, looks like what we'll need is a lift, contact cleaner and some tools. I had to leave mine in OC so is there anything I need to buy on the way to your place?

Anyway everyone sincity rotary is having the weekly meet and everyone is invited. The meet is tonight at 8pm at the in and out on sahara by the palace station. Swing by as we will be discussing the annual winter cruise route dated 01/20/13.

Saw a gray rx8 parked in the second level of the orleans parking garage from 2 pm to around 3:30 pm when I left. It had shinka b pillar stick ons(https://i.imgur.com/tmudO.jpg) and a silver fuel door, anyone here? Didn't have anything to write on or I would have left a note for them to come on here if they didn't already.

today saw a later VR 8 outside toy r us at the Meadows Mall ... then as we were at the light at Decatur a yellow 8 with rims with red lips passed us Northbound

 

Are there any suggestions on what garage to take my 8 to for some trouble shooting / engine work. I was driving home last week and the thing started running really rough and even with some electrical smelling smoke coming out from under the hood. I am not a fan of the Mazda dealer at the auto mall in Henderson and I am willing to try an independent garage someone has experience with. Help

 

spotted and tagged with SCR card, red rx8 with chrome factory wheels parking lot of Best Buy in Henderson at 11:20 it was here yesterday too around the same time. It has a cross hanging from the rear view. Look like a base model.

HNY everyone!!

 

Well first off let me start by saying Happy New Year and a Merry Belated Xmas to my extended rotary family. Now Q&A time, my I installed and after market exhaust on my Rx8 last year and yes it came with a port for me to screw in the O2 sensor but my check engine light has never gone off and now its smog time, what are my options for me to pass smog and get my tags without having to shell out hundreds of dollars? same wishes to you now someone correct me if wrong but that being said im going to assume that you're worried because u have a cat less mid pipe. If u have not gotten a CEL then u might be one of the lucky few. To double check have a friend with a scan tool or drive to auto zone and have them scan ur car to see if there are any stored or hidden codes. If nothing shows ur clear just don't tell the smog guy u have no cat. Hes not likely to look since our cars sit so low. Good luck.

 

I have smog coming up myself, but it is very easy to pass without a cat. There is a DIY thread about it. Basically do what Anthony said. You can pass smog with 1 emissions test incomplete which usually ends up being the cat test. If you have an obd2 scanner you can constantly check and wait until that happens.

Just don't tell them what you are doing, just ask if the scanner says your are emissions ready or not.

pssss I have a scan tool that reads and removes codes .... CEL should be a problem to pass trick is for light to be out during the test

 

It is more than just the light being out though. You need to delete the code or reset the computer and then let all but one test complete and you are good. If more than one test is incomplete even with the light out you will not pass.
