Chris it the name of the guy from the vegas rotary, i thing he runs their club, he said about 3500, he said that he can buy the housing from mazda for 2200 and that they would give him a warranty on it, it takes one week once he has the parts, i think he knows Erick from BHR, he recommended him if i wanted to do something better than the stock engine

Well my friend was supposed to have your name removed from the dealer in the Northwest. I knew the Henderson ******* would keep it on his books.

Was that $4500 including installation? If it was that's not too bad.

Mazmart has an engine exchange that is around $2500.00 plus shipping (may have gone up). You would still have to install it.

BHR is a little more expensive depending on what you want done. Erick comes up here all the time and maybe you can work something out with him to rebuild it locally. I am prejudiced about BHR I guess cuz they are my friends and have done all my work. Plus I find that cheap is just that!

I will stay out of the fray on the local guys. Seems to be some bad blood here and I don't want to get involved.

So I went to the car show last weekend to check out the CX-5. It wasn't there but the salesperson offered me his card so I can come see it when it arrives early next year. Man had no idea what to say when I told him I refuse to take his card because he was from Courtesy.

If I end up with a new Mazda... I'll go to California if I have to. **** Courtesy.

Anyway, Mike's been busy or don't have time...so, if anyone wants to help me out, hit me up, or pm me, thanks.

I'm 100% behind you on Courtesy........That Mazda dealer in the Northwest is no longer Courtesy. I've had a few dealings with them and they seem to be fair and willing to work with the owners. Only time will tell if they are as they now seem to be.

I dig the guys up north too. Gave me the newer engine and rental while Kasumi was out. If we like the cx-5 we'll get it from them.

Serious loss of power, please help!

Cut the downstream O2 sensor bung off to bring it in to autozone to make sure I got the proper fitting O2 sensor. Big mistake, I know, and I deserve flak for that.

Soldered that back on and reconnected the O2 sensor, but I still have an extreme loss of power w/ an inconsistent idle and hard start.

The Mazda dealer said I need to replace that entire wire system and that may not even solve my issue.

Your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, and knowledge are much appreciated!!!

Thank you,
Amanda

You soldered it back on, or welded it? (i'll save the flak for someone else, lol).

did you change BOTH o2 sensors, or just the one? how are your coils/plugs?

what wire system did mazda say needs replacing?

are you able to make any logs?

Usually if the idle is giving you problems and hard starts, check the MAF. I have no idea how many miles you have on the car so it's hard to figure. Clean the MAF with the proper cleaner and try that. If the idle improves and it's still hard to start you may want to get a new one.

You removed the bung? Dam it's welded to the pipe. I hope you rewelded it. Do you have a CEL?

Hey guys i just want to make sure I'm not the only one that feels this way but doesn't $800 for a MSP with blown seals and only 53k miles on it seem too good to be true? I would be tearing it down, rebuild and port work so I'm not concerned with seals and with the low mileage it does seem unlikely for rotor/housing damage but uncertain. It hasn't been torn down so is the price worth the risk of possible internal damage and scoring a good deal (I think) on a project motor?

$800.00 does not seem too bad but how did anyone determine it has "blown seals"? The housings are the parts to be worried about, if they are OK then it's a winner, if not then it would be a bad investment. Careful porting, very little can be removed.

Performance shop did a compression test and was low enough to conclude damaged apex seals, owner has not torn down the motor himself so no visual inspection of internals was done hence my slight hesitation. My motor only has about 6k miles (rebuilt) so this would be a project motor and spare parts. And yes I'm quite aware of our housings limitations sadly but it will be fun none the less. thanks for the reply

Little Phil is going to school and working so sometimes it takes a while for him to get back to you.
