Your welcome here with us just as long as you keep within the rules. See the posting sticky where you sign in. We won't have too much in common but your still welcome. Careful where you post, the Las Vegas group is tolerant but the moderators do not have a sense of humor

You have a mixed age group here 151/2 to 65. Posts on this thread do not have to be about cars. There is another forum that is called the Lounge that does not require talk about cars. Welcome

Last I looked with the exception of the gas, a meet does not require a $ outlay. The local SCCA club puts on auto cross meets about once per month. Some are held at Sam Boyd and others at the race track parking lot. They have a beginners class. For a couple of $ they even supply the noggin protector. If we have enough interest, when I return from vacation, I will get their schedule and start posting about it.

Absolutely no will power!! Well I'll be on vacation or SSX for the better part of the month so I wont know if your at any or not.

Bam-o & Ivory 8: Are you on your parents insurance policy or have your own insurance (you will most likely be ok if part of your parents policy but the special youth drives insurance has a clause about "exhibition of speed" events)? I'll check into it but it used to be with parental permission you could participate as long as you have a drivers license or have passed a SCCA drivers test. How else do you think that drivers like Scott Speed were able to drive (racing only) at 12 & 13?? Even if you had to take the SCCA drivers test you would most likely be better drivers than the rest of us.

I did a little quick checking and found this out. http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...28124093775934

Hay Bam & Ivory got something for you too:http://www.lvrscca.org/ Scroll down to the open track event. I did a little checking and was told all you need for this event is a helmet and a valid drivers license (& $). This could be the start of getting your getting a SCCA drivers license and learn how to really drive your cars.

SCCA licensing only takes place once per year in Vegas and the schedule is not yet set but I understand if you attended this class and pass you will be able to run local events.

You missed the point, I think. He has no will power and no money. Wait until after his wifes birthday and then we will tempt him. How soon is her birthday???

How did you do on that job interview??? Get the job???

Here I go sticking my nose in but back yards are OK but a park type setting is usually better - that was nothing gets broken or dirt tracked into the house. Take a trip up to Lee Canyon and see the nice green areas for that use about half way up. Make a little run out of it to.

SEVEN STOCK IS ALMOST HERE!!!!

Who told you that you have to be 18??? I talked to some people at SCCA and they told me otherwise (unless your parents will not sign or your insurance forbids it). Did you even read my posts?? Please get a name of any one that has told you you can't. I will talk to my friend again and find out why conflicting information.

Thanks for the invite Mike, I'll be on the first leg of my vacation but I will return in time for that garage meet with Charles R. Hill

Whoops you got me there. I did not ask about a permit - I was told that anyone with a (valid) drivers license from the state or SCCA could participate but may require a release from their parents. My bud is also on vacation so I can't ask him until I return.

Anthony: Did not here back from you on the autocross. They are not all at Nellis some are at the race track and once in a while at Sam Boyd. You know we could do a closed club rallycross on anyone of the several dry lake beds around here but it sure would get the cars dirty. Holding our own autocross could be a problem due to liability issues.
