After reading the threads here the meets seem really awesome. If I can go to one I wouldn't get laughed at for not having a modded car or anything like that , sorry Im New to the RX8 community so excuse my rudeness no offense intended and I live In torrance , CA just saying have not bought an 8 yet but will soon . Just curios to meet other 8 drivers .

 

We're a very open community, doesn't matter if its modded or not. If you do plan on modding, we can definitely give you some good pointers as well. The club is intended for people who enjoy their Mazda's. Even if you're car is stock, we all start from somewhere. Would be glad to have you come down to one of the meets

So after many years of neglecting to properly take care of my 8, I am now in the process of replacing my clutch/flywheel. Not that I took bad care of it, but I didn't keep up on it like I should have. Being in the military I have been away from home quite a bit and just haven't kept up on it. Last year I had to replace my spark plugs and coils, and for some reason I am still loosing power at higher RPM's and when I am at a light the idle jumps around quite a bit it almost seems like it is going to shut off. Needless to say it isn't driveable right now as I am replacing the clutch this Saturday...any pointers? I am in the nor cal area and would love to meet up with you guys once my 8 is up and running again. Take care and hope to meet you guys soon. btw, I am a gun guy, cars aren't really my thing. Military type, on the OPS side.

I am away a little less than every other weekend. Somehow, these meets are invariably scheduled on the weekends when I am away.

 

How many miles is your 8? My best recommendation is to change out the ignition coils and wires as well and to double check your motor mounts. Do you feel vibrations when at idle or when turning on your A/C? If you do, thats a strong indication of a worn out motor mount. What you can also do about high end power loss is check the compression of your motor and make sure that your motor is still healthy. Main reasons for high end power loss would be ignition failures and low compression in one or both of your chambers. Do you have any CEL's?

I wanted to bring this back up as well as I'm sure more people would be interested in helping out bring our mazda community together. Please PM me your e-mail if you're seriously interested in helping out with the BBQ and helping out bring up a new club. I'm looking for active members who have a similar vision as I and are serious about uniting a divided community and bringing everyone together in events like meets and car shows and hopefully track days and such in the future!

 

Change of plans and I'll actually be at the meet this weekend. Should I bring the Elise or the Miata?

 

Its all up to you, not sure how the turnout will be with the norcal rotary group's bbq but i'll definitely still be out here to hang out I would say bring the miata this time and then next time bring the elise i would love to get a miata in a photo of the meet finally.

We're purely a mazda Rotary forum not a mazdas forum so it's a bit different. I can throw it out there to see what my other admins think though. Lemme get back to you.

 

I definitely understand, that was the intention when first creating the group. Definitely talk with the other admins. If it's a no go, that's no problem. For those who want to help out with our bbq or NCM club planning, we are meeting up at automall in and out tonight at 6pm. It will coincide with the MOCC meet tonight at 8pm at the same location.

 

is there anyone else on here thats up in the lost coast(Humboldt county) I see a few other 8's around just wondering if any other rotary fans in my area are looking to meet up and share ideas, or just bs and grab a beer let me know

yea there is a couple around but I don't think many really know or appreciate what they have one guy with two really nice 7's one fc and one fd I know he's a rotohead but don't know him my self...maybe ill just have to make a trip outta it one day and make one of ur meets. would love to chat it up with other 8 owners with knowledge and advice for a newbie with the want to learn everything I can
