The guy thats looking to buy an rx8, one tip is if u can get one thats under warranty it will be good just in case n "if"..mazda has 10 yr 100k warrany on engine..also u can get vin call mazda n see whats been done to.car..u interested in auto or manual..i might need to get bigger fam car n extremely sad to say..might have to let my 8 go..
Yeah its a tight call but I think I'm going to go with the stock silver one,It has the mazda speed body-kit, sunroof,is still under warranty and right off the back all I have to do is lower it and I'll be happy.
The other one may prove to expensive to smog(replacing the custom exhaust with a stock one)+having to deal with a body kit and paint later is such a hassle, and a 6 puck, thats a lot of clutch haha
What are you selling though,I may be interested.
We should somehow get together in a meet up with other mazda owners too anyone have any info on rx7 or speed 3 meet ups, or how can we organize a big rx8 meet up..?
coming up in summer canibeat meets every fri or sat in the east-bay,not sure where you are but there are mazdas and a bunch of nice people.

I will know by mid march if I am selling my car. I've got a winning blue 2004 Rx8 GT Auto w/ 75k miles. Turbo XS catback exhaust (have race pipe in box never installed) K&N Typhoon 2 intake, lowered on Megan Racing 32 way adjustable coilovers (9 month or less old)-- same time put on XXR 522 flat black rims 235/40/18.. 3 weeks ago i put on DBA 4000 series slotted rotors with Hawk HPS pads ...brakes are freaken amazing.. Got 4 brand new never installed 235/40/18 Continental extreme contact tires(the extreme sport/summer tires) I have all stock items including the stock wheels with 4 potenza re960 as pole position tires that have like 15% tread left..I even have all records of anything that has been done to the car including oil changes to balancing.. Car is in great condition and I wax it a good 3 times a year ever since day one so the paint is comparable to 3 year old rx8's.

Go fast, do it again
FINALLY! I got the engine to start. I didn't get the white wall of smoke I was expecting from what others have said and seen on youtube, only a small amount came out. The engine cranked up about 4 times and died before it really started for good. With the new items I replaced it sounds so much better and idles at a smooth 1100 RPM. I know I'm beating a dead horse when I say this but man what a difference the new plugs, wires and coils make. Thanks for all the tips I got from everyone!
Now, onto these meets we should be having more often.........

What oil weight were you told to use? Nothing wrong with 5w20, been using it since day 1 and its what paul at rotorsport uses as well. Engine failure can be caused by a lot of things, imo take whatever rx8 you plan on buying to a rotary specialist so they can check it out. Rotorsport is over in santa clara and ive been taking my car to paul ever since. I've also heard good things about mr. Mazda in campbell, just make sure to get it checked out and you should be good.
Im also over on newcelica, owned a gts back in 01.

Hay. I've found two 04 RX8 that I'm looking at. One has had the clutch problem taken care of and even added a 6 puck, lighter flywheel and counter balance as well as de-cat and custom exhaust. this one seams the guy has taken goon care of it.
the other is stock,no mods or serves I believe.
What I'm worried about is(one over the other) is the modded one has been using 5w-20 oil and what I'm learning on here is that, that weight oil is what is responsible for premature engine failure. I'm also sure this guy has taken care of this car but also "Drivin" it as well.
The other I'm concerned I'd end up replacing the clutch peddle soon and possibly it hasn't been cared for as well.
both are relatively low millage. also the modded one comes with a cobb tuner, the other one with an extended warranty from a dealership for some extra.
any advice? I'm leaning towards the one that has been modded.(not for the mods but because I think he knows a bit about this car and how to care for it)

Good to know about a rotor shop close by in campbell.
as far as the oil,all I know is what I've been reading, there seams to be a bit of disagreement. For myself I think Ill switch to 10w 40w in the summer(sac gets to 114f) and 5w 30w in the winter. The car I've decided to buy has been useing 5w 20w,but it's in a colder place than Sac,and has 95,xxx so coming up to 100,xxx. (I decided on the modded 8)
anyway this is just a thought as I won't own an 8 until tue(Fingers crossed)
Jizeff so tell me after owning a Celica what are your thought's about the two cars,a comparison.

I found this site thru a flier at the WekFest Show. There is a Blox show in Fremont in July-
http://bloxopenhouse.com/index.html
Maybe we could organize a group to go and even be in the show, too.
