Looks like I'll be there tonight. How long I'll stay though depends on my other girl, not my wife.

I was just about to leave for the 7:30 meet at 7:20pm, but I notice the meet changed to 6pm and the movie starts at 7:45pm..so I won't be going. Maybe next time. Thank god I checked the forum before I left or else I would of been there with my wife and we be like "where is everyone?" and then she'll probably say "umm it was today right?"

Well there are many factors, but, much like everything else, there are a lot of rice kids who just get them for the free ACT sticker that comes in the box, so don't let that get in the way of some of the more important factors.

The biggest reason for getting an improved clutch is as you said, higher horsepower / torque applications

What I want is a clutch that doesn't turn to butter every time I beat on it for five minutes. Yes, the stock clutch can handle about 10 percent more than what the rx8 puts out but it is still designed for comfort and not as much for performance and doesn't deal well with a good beating session

Another benefit to getting a slightly over spec'd clutch is longevity, this clutch will last me a lot longer because the friction materials are designed for higher power than I will be using it with, it will also take a lot more beating before it starts to fade/fatigue

There are, as some others have mentioned, some feedback benefits, seeing as it wont fatigue nearly as fast it will be much more consistent, making rev matching and quick shifts much more efficient.

The OEM mazda clutch, as anything OEM, is a rip off. Might as well go for an upgrade if you have to spend an arm and a leg.

I actually wanted the Exedy Organic Stage 1 but the company I tried to buy it from was on back order for two weeks, they had the ACT in stock so I got that instead, the HDMM is the lightest clutch I know of that ACT offers.

There are a few things to consider, specific to the RX8, like our faulty clutch pedal assemblies and the crappy rubber clutch line (swells when it gets old and doesn't exert 100% of the hydraulic pressure to the clutch slave, which leads to other problems), so, the reinforcement pedal kit and a braided steel clutch line will remedy that.

With all that said, obviously improved clutches aren't for everyone but is recommended if you drive your car like a sports car.
