When you hold your mouse over the subject, the first few lines of topic text are shown.

 

I like this idea as well. I was just visiting a different forum and it had this feature. It was very helpfull, kind of like a 'sneak peak' at what the thread contained. Good for not having to waste time on worthless topics w/ "check this out" type titles.
