No dwell change needed for LS 1 coils?
Saw something interesting today. A little while ago there was a lot of discussion about the dwell times required for the LS 1 coil. It was recommended that the dwell ne change to 5 ms--especially for the FI guys. This still holds true for max performance--but it is not absoulutely req to run the ls1 coils.Dwell table for a 2001 Corvette (LS 1 coils) and here are the dwells---may surprise you.
14 volts:
Rpm
800 to 3.6K-- Dwell is at 3.6ms
4K------------------------------ 3.49 ms
4.4K----------------------------3.40ms
4.8K-----------------------------3.29ms
5.2 K til 8K----------------------3.20ms.
Our oems are using a dwell of 3 to 3.8ms
Looks like they can be used WITHOUT resetting the factory dwell.
Now if you want max performance out of them then yes a reset of dwell to 5ms is recommended.
Just nice to know you dont have too?

Thanks for the fast posting guys.
Ray--sorry if it sounded like I was somehow critizing your product. No intentions of doing that--i always have thought and still think it is a good set up. The "dwell drama" was a beast of its own
Dan you are right and as a matter of fact I am going to edit my opening message and not mention the yukons at all---just the LS 1's.
Just offering up some data I found that may be of use to some

Oh yeah. I forgot. We are already doing that.
That is what BlackHaloRacing.com is for!
