Downshift points

Hey,

I was wondering if it's possible to somehow adjust the downshift points (you know how it doesn't let you downshift unless you're going a certain speed).

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust these downshift points (maybe using the Cobb AP)?

Thanks!

Are you talking about an AT or MT?

4/6AT, yes, it's possible.
6MT, no, it's impossible unless you spend alot of dough on replacing your gearings.

EDIT: I just realized that this thread is located in the AT sub forum.... just ignore my MT comment.

Yea, sorry, talking about an AT (I thought it was kinda implied, since this is the AT forum, sorry).

So, this could be done using the Cobb AP then?

Thanks!

I can downshift into any gear at any speed with the exception of 2 to 1 over 30 mph. Is yours different from mine?

Do you have the 4 or 6spd? I have 4 and I can't go from 3rd > 2nd over 70mph and I think it limits the 4th > 3rd at like 110 or so.

I have the 4 speed, I have shifted from 3rd into 2nd at 75mph a couple of times on accident! I am hoping when I get my AP tune it will increase the power at high end a little, the best power range is from 4500 rpm to 6000 rpm, after that it drops off!

I think some of the posters might be mistaken but I have not talked to "jeef" for a couple of weeks - he may have discovered something.

I have an 05 (4speed) and what JTtheDude said applies to me as well.

Not being able to downshift into 1st from 2nd at certain speeds is most annoying though.

So, will the AP allow me to adjust this or not?

Our ECU does not control shifting so the AP will not "directly" help. Now it may (in my case did) make the a/t operate smooter and shift smoother but it will not directly effect the tranny.

I do believe that BHR and MM are looking at this but it is not on the "hot" burner.

Go FI and the reason for your concern goes away

what the old guy above me said is true. If the AP could work with the TCM and could mask what teh PCM is looking for from the TCM, can we say no more AT?

I think we could.

The tranny is controlled by a seperate module.

The AP is only for tune.
