Oh noes, not another oil additive topic... please read on

I've been seeing this article for a very long time now

My question is, does anyone think there is any reason we couldn't run this stuff in the wankel engine? It seems like a great way to reduce wear, it's supposed to be compatible with catalytic converters so it shouldn't clog ours any more than the engine already does.

I've contacted the company as well to ask them if the product will work in a wankel. They have been around for a very long time so I doubt they some crappy startup company making nothing but snake oil.

 

Just say goodbye to your cat Sulfur and Phosphorous are known to be catalytic converter destructive.

 

Lots of oils already have moly in them.

 

Not MoS2 , Usually its MoDTC or MoDTP.

 

They have oil too in a very RX-8 friendly 5W-40

But I thought MoDTC convert to MoS2 in use?

 

hmmm, I thought that was due to oxidation degradation, vs starting off as MoS2

 

here is their answer to the question I asked.

Yes, our Oil Additiv will also work in wankel engines very well. The best dosage is, add 5% of the Oil Additiv to the motor oil of the wankel engine. The Oil Additiv is a mineralic based treatment and it is not detrimental in opposite of catatlytic converter. So there will be no problem by the use of Oil Additiv against any part of the engine ore exhaust system and the engine will have lower friction and wear and a longer life time.

I just read an article where too much Moliubium in the oil is not good and has the reverse affect.

 

The company doesn't know (or care, apparently) about the OMP system....

Molybdenum is a heavy metal poison to the cat.

I'm using Havoline specifically because it has high levels of Moly in its additive package.

Is that a problem? Or is just this specific type of moly being spoken of bad for the catalytic converter?
